sheltie has a fettish

Cadbury steals socks, mainly mine. But then I had a cat who also stole my socks :confused2:

There could be so many reasons. They like having something that smells like the person who makes them feel most secure/comforted/happy? They do it to get your attention (Cadbury steals washing from the machine for this and if you ignore him he will drop it instantly). Could even be Buddy just likes the texture and taste of the material they are made of?

Whatever the reason, solution is - be tidier! (And that goes for me too, I still leave socks on the floor:o)

I think its your dogs way of helping you clean house..LOL I know mine have "taught" me to keep things picked up!! Clancy has a taste for leather and wood..Abby likes waste baskets and shreds tissues..
I'd be concerned for your dog choking on peices of the material..or swallowing a hunk and getting a blockage...So be careful!!

maybe he should change soaps, especially if it's not the same as everyone else's. (my mom's dog loved licking my dad's pillow until he changed his shampoo). it won't hurt to try but know that it's not going to make a difference after one day. if that doesn't work then maybe something is wrong with your hubby (crossing our fingers and paws that it's not it though).

LMAO when i saw that i couldn't help but think...my dog does that! when he was able to get onto the bed he would lick my pillow and my sheets....to this day i have no idea why....anywho

maybe the hubby could try to keep his undies off the floor and out of the reach of the puppy?

Oh yeah. How about THAT vet visit? When the vet has to do surgery to pull your underwear out of your dog's stomach. Try explaining THAT one.

don't know why !

Our Bumper does that.I always wondered why,and it isnt' my pillow she will do it to,it's Brian's.Constantly changing his pillow case.

And speaking of socks,Earnhardt will take your socks off of your feet.If you are sitting sock foot, and he gets the notion,he gently takes his teeth, never has gotton a toe,but he will pull and pull till he gets it off, then come back for the other. He's done it to some company we have had..kinda embaressing, cause they are wondering what hes doing. I taught him to do it when he was just a babe, and he's never forgotton.

I lost a pair of gym shorts last week to Beckon -- same modus operandi. It's just their way of saying, "Mmmmm -- you smell good enough to eat!!!"

Kleenex!

Well this one is brand new as of yesterday.

Yesterday, I took a Kleenex out of the box and the boys went absolutely insane. While I was blowing my nose, they were jumping and spinning and barking the whole time. One tissue landed on the floor, and Indy was circling it like he'd found a snake or something!

So today, when I did my morning "blow", I wondered what would happen! Sure enough...the boys were in the other room. The heard the tell-tale "swish" of the tissue leaving the box and went nuts again! Now what's that about!!!!! :confused2::lol:

I tell you Barb sometimes you've got to think these shelties are just plain nuts, but you still gotta love 'em.

UGH.....my sheltie eats the crotch out of my underwear and my middle daughters. Weird. Oh...and I can't forget my sister's friend who was visiting. She went through her suitcase and pulled out the friends underpants and ate the crocth out of them??? Now that was embarrassing.

Years and years ago, I had a setter who was dry heaving and not eating or pooping. We took her to the vet and the vet gave her a barium and x-ray her and it showed a mass in her stomach...and the stomach exit tube. She ended up having surgery. He pulled out 3 tube socks and 2 pairs of terry underware. Whole! All mine! I was so upset.

So it isn't just the Shelties that do this. But at least the Shelties chew the crotch out.....not eat the entire garment!!!!!!
