Sheltie VS. Cat!

cats are animals that can not be put on the leash and have to roam IMHO...
but I have never had a problem telling other cat not to come into our garden... they sense pretty well when they are not welcome... I am guessing your pups and cat have a relationship going... bizzare as it seems to you, would bet they enjoy it...
I would talk to the owners and make sure that cat is either declawed or claws are cut short...
also add some orange and lemon peel to the spray as well as honey or oil... cats HATE to get dirty....

????? Why do they have to roam? If I had a cat I would not want it outside stalking the neighborhood. It could get ran over, attacked by shelties with a score to settle, or shot.

I've never seen a cat on a leash (how odd! :eek2:), but letting any of your pets just wander around the neighborhood just sounds like bad pet ownership to me. I know cats are hard animals to contain, but I'm also sure most responsible cat owners are aware of this fact before they decide to get one, and will at least make an honest attempt at knowing where their cats are.
 
Letting them roam goes back to England during the time of the Black Death. It was a royal command that cats be let roam to control the rats, and this command has never been rescinded. I certainly wish it was. Heard the cats in the neighbourhood fighting at 5:30 this morning. Our neighbour certainly doesn't like the "presents" they leave on his lawn.

I didn't know that. Very interesting.

Our neighbor's cat, Tabitha, is Phebe's best friend. They play all the time and have ever since Phebe first came home at 3 months of age. Sometimes Phebe chases Tabitha, but more often Tabitha chases Phebe. :biggrin2:

Tabitha also comes over to hide out from Doman her GSD puppy brother. For some reason she prefers Phebe over Doman.

In the MN city I used to work, it was illegal to let your cat outside. Animal control or neighbors will trap it and it will be gone. I live in the next city over and you never see cats outside.
 
So far so good - no Tux on "our" side of the fence. Hopefully it was just a one time thing. It wouldn't annoy me so much if they didn't want to rearrange each other's faces. :uhoh:

Now though everytime Tux comes into view Fluffy will spin and bark. How nice. Smudge is spreading his bad habbits.
 
I have 2 cats who go outside however they cant leave the yard because they have the invisible pet fence that runs ontop of my fence so they cant climb it. Does it sound mean? Maybe, but with all the wildlife that lives on the other side of my fence it beats making them someones lunch or run over! They absolutely refuse to stay indoors, as they were feral rescues. but anyway back to the problem, before I got the invisible fence I had chicken wire on the top and bent inwards toward my yard and that kept them in and other cats out. I had to change though when my wood pile was pushed against our fence so it was an easy climb out for them! and since the ferals roaming werent an issue since they became someones meal.:uhoh:

My sister in law would walk her two cats on a leash- they liked going with their mom. she had matching harnesses and leashes. she hasn't taught the newer cats to do it though :smile2: so they all stay inside and look out the windows :wink2:
 
Uuuum! My dad hates cats. He says he's going to get a BB gun and start shooting them, but I guess that's not the solution you are looking for????:eek2:

I'd really rather not shoot anything. :eek2: Especially since it's the neighbor's cat! It's not just a random cat.

I guess the problem has fixed itself though, because Tux has not been on Smuff's side of the fence again. :confused2:
