Shelties hard to dry coats!

I used a blow drier with Pebbles once and she hid away from me the rest of the day and being used to her following me everywhere that totally sucked. For the last three years every-time I dry my own hair she hides under the bed. I let her air dry now and the next day use a leave on conditioner to brush her. It takes a while but the hair looks wonderful afterwords. I agree that air drying alone makes the hair look funny. I use pet head on her and dont have a wet dogies smell problem like I did with other shampoos, she smells really nice.

I may be wrong, but I thought there was a risk of developing skin problems if they stay damp too long? I was assuming that if I bathed them myself I needed a dryer to be sure that did not happen. Am I wrong about that?

I dont like mine to stay wet because your right but they would also have to be damp for a long time. I do not dry mine in the summer here because its so hot they dry within minutes! But the remaining 10 months out of the year they get dried!

She does not stay wet for long. I use two towels to thoroughly dry her and its always warm in our apartment. She dries within the hour ( I know because she sleeps next to me and I give her showers at night) but should I still be concerned? I didnt know that could happend but I might have to start the long and slow process of teaching her that hair dryer is a friend...

It's sounds like it is ok for your climate.

In humid climates the dogs go hours and sometimes days without getting dry and having that wet hair insulated against their skin is a perfect place for bacteria to grow.
