I just want warmer weather so I can get her outside :gaah!!!
We’ve had this cold snap for over a week now, haven’t been able to house train her. Yesterday we hit a new record low...-38.2, windchill-50! Tonight will be a balmy -35. They’re calling for -10 on Wednesday I think...I hope haha.
No walks with this cold either so both Piper and Finnie have been exercising on the treadmill (with lots of encouragement lol or they lag), they don’t like it but they’ll do anything for a little piece of jerky:lol:

No walks here either - too much crud on the roads. Do you walk them on a human treadmill? If it was just the 'normal' salt, I will walk Brodie with boots on but when they put spray stuff on the roads, I won't walk him even with boots - that stuff eats through brake lines and bumpers - a little rubber booty would be nothing for it and I worry what might seep through, KWIM? A storm or two ago we had this neon green salt on the road and I was like no way! No idea what was in it for it to be that color - I'm not a chemical person on my property - too many issues so no way would I walk him on a road covered in green salt! We can't walk the nearby golf course cuz of the snow. We did take Brodie for 2 car rides - he's not a fan though - and the only reason he likes car rides is the potential for a donut hole (Munchkin) which we failed to pick up for him. Brodie is getting his workouts jumping through snow - he is literally crazy. Kooper is perfectly happy only going out for his duties in the snow - he has absolutely no desire for any extra time in the cold. He's an old man and is content to just sit around and snooze. Deacon, well I do fear Deacon will be another snow boy. He has quite the coat on hi and isn't fizzed by snow - seems to like it a lot in fact. Our daytime highs are about -6 or -7 your temps but no wind thank goodness. I can't imagine what -38 (which in Celsius or Fahrenheit is the same) even feels like!!! And - 50??? Can't you like freeze to death immediately or something - yikes!!!!My goodness, how do you heat your house? We burn wood to supplement oil heat - before window replacement used to burn 24/7 in an insert and got through about 6 cords a year. Since window replacement, we burn 2 - 3 cords a year and no longer burn 24/7 - but do burn daily. Hope it warms up for you soon! We're still getting storms every few days - my exercise is in shoveling.

Yes, it’s a human treadmill. Finnie walks at about 1.6 mph and Piper 1.4...it was very easy to get them started on it but Piper does tend to get bored and needs encouragement lol.
Not much salt (if any) on our roads, salt only works at temps closer to freezing so they use a lot more sand here. With our cold temperatures there’s definitely more risks associated with the cold...travelling for sure you need to have an emergency kit and also homeless people. I know the city opened up 2 libraries (they were closed due to Covid) as warming centre’s.
The dogs are literally in and out...3 minutes maximum and they’re paws are freezing!.
