Size of your Shelties?

No because in ISC competiton if Shadow measured 17 inches at the shoulder he would have to jump 26 inches. I would never jump him 26 inches.18 inches is no problem for him. I keep Shadow thin so he doesnt knock bars. You will find most agility dogs are thin.He gets ajusted alot by the chiropracter.

Ok, I gotcha now, that makes sense

I'm still learning all of the different standards. Same reason I don't want Sadie to get any taller than 16 inches, which she's at now. Any taller and she'll have to jump at 22 inches, according to the AAC.

Yeah I know what you mean. Is there any other venue you could show her in like USDAA or NADAC or CPE?IF you arent to far from Niagra Falls you could always do the AKC show threre .Is she AKC

yes there are other venues, AAC I think is the biggest concern, as well as USDAA which has the same standard but there are also regular CPE and ASCA events at our training facility. Sadie is CKC registered and I think I was told that will make her AKC registered as well. So I do have alternatives but its something I'll have to watch out for if she gets bigger than 16 inches. She's also not too fond of the wicket so I have to train her to stand still when she's being measured.

My first two girls were 12-13 " and weighed 20-23 lbs. I don't know how tall my rescue Beamer is, but he's a lot bigger than those two and weighs around 33 lbs.

There is such a thing as a doggie chiropractor?? I swear by my chiropractor, go there twice a week. That would be awesome if Madi could go too!

I know someone on Dogster who gets one of her Shelties (Gio) chiropractored every once in a while because he has back problems.

Our Sophie is 9months and she's 11.5" and 10.6lbs, I don't think she has grown since she was 6months or so. Everyone comments on how small she is.

Last time I measured....

Hunter was 15 7/8" and is 17 mos old. I think I last measured him around 4 months ago.
His parents were around 14" each (just goes to show, you never can tell just by the sire/dam size!) and he was guesstimated at 15.25-15.5" adult size on all the charts as a pup (I tracked him weekly lol). So he ended up being about .75" taller than predicted.
If I tickled him in the belly, he would probably be over-sized
He weighs between 24 and 25.5 lbs.
Our first sheltie, Lazer, was at least 17" and roughly 33 lbs in his prime.

Forgot to mention...
I see soooo many "giant" shelties out there. Still wonderful dogs, but then people come up to me and say "Oh, is he a mini?! My (neighbor, friend, co-worker) has one and it's much bigger than yours!"
No, he's not a "mini", he is actually in-size thank you!
People are so used to seeing the over-sized shelties that when they see one that is actually "correct", they think I have a runt or something. It gets old sometimes.
Does anyone else get questions or comments about their sheltie's size(s)?

Yes, I had to remind my aunt the other day that CeCe is "within breed standard" not small for a Sheltie. I quite often tend to make stuff up off the top of my head, so I told her that many good breeders, breeders who show, will sell their larger dogs for companion dogs, and that's why you see alot of larger shelties out there as pets. OK, it sounded good to me at the time. And she bought it, maybe there's some truth to it?
