Small pup, is it safe to get?

Thank you all for your help. Well, this puppy purchase went south very fast. I asked the breeder if we could get her vets number that had treated the pups on several occations (since the 4 week bout of diarrhea took them there a few times). I wanted to ask him if he could foresee any problems or would recommend any additional testing compared to the standard.

Well, she took that as me questioning her knowledge as a breeder and decided she would keep the pup instead. Abit surprised to get such a strong reaction, however then I guess it was'nt ment to be. Hopefully our pup will be found soon.

Sorry this all fell through on the little pup...I am really surprised that the breeder was not willing to provide her vet contact. It is important to have a good long term and open relationship with any breeder you buy from and obviously this wasn't going to be the case here, so maybe just as well this did fall through...but I am sure it is a disappointment.

The right pup and breeder is out there...just keep looking.

Yep, totally normal. At 12 weeks, my Spirit Joy was somewhere around 3.3 pounds. She is very tiny - full grown at about 11" tall and 12 pounds (but needs to lose a pound). Her littermates are all average size, one is actually over. She is perfectly healthy and very spunky. She participates in flyball, agility, and obedience and is very athletic and coordinated. She's just very small :-)

And by the way, when I brought Spirit home from the breeder she was 3.1 pounds. One of her brothers was 6 pounds!!!!!!! All the puppies in the litter are healthy and happy.

that's sad, but I guess not meant to be. Some breeders do get very touchy. Which is silly, you are just being conscientious. Good luck with your search.
