So I spent the last three hours in the kitchen making assorted sheltie/Smuff themed pastry items. My main goal was to try out my new bone cake pan. I LOVE that pan! It is perfectly sized and just so awesome! I wanted to try a people cake in it before I made something for my dogs in it. I wanted to make sure that it would hold up. I was not disappointed.

Included:
1. Smuff cookies with performance events theme. I wanted one to say obedience but I write too big for it to fit.
2. Sheltie candy corn cake. The batter was colored and is actually half orange and half yellow. I will get a picture of the inside of it once we cut it open to eat. Just add a tablespoon of icing color gel to your batter!
3. Mini candy corn swirl cupcakes


I know both of the sheltie Beanie Babies are sable, but they don't make 'em in tri. :rolleyes2: :razz:

I love them Jessica! I can't decide which I like best, but I think the dog sport themed cookies are a close contender. They all look so yummy!

Where did you get the bone-shaped pan? I would like one but haven't had much luck on UK sites.

BTW, I have the exact same Ty sheltie sitting on my TV in my bedroom:biggrin2:
 
I HATE icing. I seriously can't stand it. The only exception being the icing they put on German chocolate cake and the icing they put on cinnamon rolls. I used Wilton white cookie icing for the white icing. It was very good! You heat the bottle in the microwave for a few minutes and then put it on your cookies/cake. Then it hardens and you can decorate on top of it.

What I love about that batter instruction guide is that you can use any color you want! I will have to look at the ingredients for the food color gel, but I am pretty sure it is dog safe. Don't quote me on it though!

The bone pan I used I got for around $10. When it came in the mail it was PLASTIC! It also said on the instructions not to use it over temperatures over 375. Despite that, it is a very nice cake pan! A while back I said it was perfect to make for two dogs, but I thinking it might still be a little big for two dog servings. The brand is Boodle Poochie:

I bought mine from them off of ebay. I think I paid $6 for the actual pan, but then you have to add shipping, ect. They sell dog cake mixes that go into the pan, but you can make your own.

Thanks Jessica, I want one to make Cadbury's birthday cake in.

Would you believe I actually had training in icing when I worked in a big brand chocolate shop over-here? They showed you how to fill the bag and hold it just right. Our major seasons were Easter and Christmas, I ended up with an enlarged muscle in my right palm!

My fave icings are just plain icing sugar mixed with water and a colour or butter icing, and then I buy all sorts of sprinkling things to go on top. I tend to get a bit carried away:lol:

Just kidding. I loved all the treats you made!! I wish I had an inkling to want to do that. I used to make Christmas cookies but I get bored decorating really fast. Did you ever get the picture of the inside of the cake?

My mom took a picture with her phone. I didn't take a picture with my camera because, "Oh no, don't worry. I already took a picture for you!" :rolleyes2: Yeah. Then for some reason her phone decided to die and not upload it to facebook. I have a picture of the other colored I did though - the purple and gold (yellow) one.

I'm working on trying out my first fondant cake - Smuff sheltie themed, of course (sable and tri). :winkgrin: I like making cakes because if you mess it up you can still eat. :lol:

My bone cake pan died though, so no bone shaped pup cakes for Smuff until I can buy another one. It cracked! It was made of plastic (I didn't realize it until I got it in the mail), but come on! ONE use?!
