Hahaha. Do I sound like I'm vindictive towards any dog/breed? All I said was that I'm very careful around these dogs and I think it's a good thing. I'm here to take care of my own dog and if most pitts don't get along with other dogs, yea, we're not usually friends with them. That's all.
And, yes, I do know better than to approach a dog that's snarling at me and things like that. It's a warning to be heeded.)
Well, maybe you were a genius when you were a kid, but we were like 9 years old and didn't really know much about dogs. I know, I've studied a lot of doggy books, but that was it.... When rottie you usually play with out of the suddent growls at you and shows you her teeth, I don't think you'd be all "Oh, that's alright, she's just warning me". IMO, any other regular dog wouldn't try to scare off little kid only because of some bone he just discovered. Still just stating my opinion. I know I wouldn't let my dog be like that.
You're lucky to meet responsible owners. Maybe that's why you don't understand my POV, but believe me, in my country pitts and staffords are magnets to troubles. They usually have very irresponsible owners, even the ones who openly blackmail others or let their dogs to attack other owner's dogs. Sadly unless it's attack towards human, police usually doesn't do a thing about it.. Now you can imagine how frustrating it is to meet people like that w/ dogs like that.
and BTW, I'm not for banning any breed! I know that those dogs can be great if they're properly trained and socialized okey?! But it's sad that there's not many responsible owners. These days pitts and staffords are modern breed and anyone can get them, which leads to problems for both -dogs themselves and other owners.

That's interesting hmm. I know when my dog was all jealous and barking right into the face of one stafford (btw, veeeeery sweet dog it was and so was owner), I didn't let him. Bigger dogs are usually annoyed by those yapping little creatures Lol. And when the big one gets pissed off, it doesn't always end up well. Just last week I witnessed the situation when one cavalier king charles spaniel was barking like crazy right into the face of australian kelpie... Before owner got to him, kelpie quickly turned him on the back and "attacked" him. Sometimes, like in this case, it's goes quite okey, althought there's a lot of noise, no one ends up hurt. Good thing is that kelpie doesn't have strong jaws, owner once talked about it and told us that he practically doesn't bite. BUT with other dogs it can go differently. I think you did the right thing. Waiting for things how they play out isn't always the best solution.... I think owner is there to make sure nothing bad happens.
