Sophie's 5th anniversary today

I lost my 11-month old pup, Sophie, in a fire from a gas explosion 5 years ago today. I was air lifted to a burn unit and didn't know if she was alive or not. The firemen told me she died from smoke inhalation after finding her dead under my nightstand. It was a gas explosion due to negligence by the gas and electric co. In other words she absolutely didn't have to die. She was an angel on earth, now an angel at the Ridge. It took me a year and a half to recover from the burns which is when I got Ty, who I lost suddenly a few months ago at 4 from a heart condition - we're all still depressed over that. A year after Ty I got Brock, now 3 and last week I got little Kai, who's helping to bring us all out of it. But today is Sophie's day. All of her pictures burned up in that fire and I couldn't get her to have her cremated...but her memory is still in my heart.:sadsmile:

I'm so sorry for the tragic event that took little Sophie. She is watching and waiting with Ty and my Zoe at the bridge. She knows that you loved her very much and so does Ty. Many of us on here can completly understand the heartache that sends you reeling from the loss of your beloved pets. Hugs to you and your family on this anniversary.
 
Liz, My heart aches for you.

You had an aweful tragedy and as you said didn't have to happen. The loss of your angel, Sophie is a tragic one and I'm crying just thinking about it.:cry: Then you lost Ty , to a heart condition. May you have Many Many years with Brock and Kai !!
RIP Sophie and Ty. Know that you are loved and missed but that memories can never be taken away!:sadsmile: Liz, Give Brock and Kai some extra hugs today it will help.

Hi. Thank you for your kind notes. It means so much. And as it turns out I did find a couple of pictures of Ty (2/09), but Sophie's burned up in the fire.

Liz, you are so courageous to rise from your tragedy with such warmth and joy. Ty was truly a beauty -- I see what you meant about his sweet face!!! You'll always carry Sophie's portrait in your heart, where the colors will never fade with time. :sadsmile:
