Sting Goes Back To Class Tonight

Sting

I was so proud of Sting tonight. He was awesome in class.Erin set up a very tough course and Sting handled it very well. It was alot of discriminations and for a very green dog he did very well and I am proud of him. The weave poles had ugly entries and some of the seasoned dogs missed the entry but my Sting nailed them.:biggrin2:

Great going sting, by the time you are back running with him he will be aceing trials.

How do you manage getting someone else to run with him? I tried it at flyball this week (to see if I could manage both dogs in the one team), but they kept looking for me and running back to me instead of getting the ball. Its a shame because it means I can only run one dog at comps until enough green dogs have come through to establish another team. Given the distances I have to travel for comps I would rather them both get to run.

Caro, have you ever had anyone train with either of your dogs other than you? I wonder if they were treated/rewarded by someone else for doing the basics (jumps, turns, etc...) if they had practiced with other people.

Of course, in our agility club we have one of the few dogs that will run with anyone. That also means that if you have cookies, he would go home with you!

And Sharon, it's awesome to hear how well Sting is doing. Can't wait to hear how it goes when you guys are both at 100% again.

Caro- What about practicing with your two dogs side by side as part of a "two dog team", with you handling one and someone else handling the other ? I'm speaking about having the second dog released as the first is returning. Perhaps with your being "right there" your second dog might not have a problem ?

Go Sting!!! That is awesome.

Just curious, do you think it has to do with socialization, or the fact that ppl give them treats? lol. I know Koji gets trained by two trainers when I'm not there, never seen them run him, so I have no clue if he'd run (I would think so, cuz y'know they have food and stuff).

Sting

I would say socialization because I don't let people give my dog treats unless they ask me.I got some nice compliments about his sit stay at the start line and the 3 jump lead out that Heidi had gotten with him. Heidi has been running him for me.
