Strange quirks your shelties have

She likes to rub against the bathroom floor mat. Does anyone else's shelties do this?

Crouton does this too! When she was at my parent's house on vacation they couldn't figure out what was doing that to the bathmat and my dad meanly convinced my grandma it was a ghost. All until they caught her in the act.

Her only quirk is that she will stick her face in front of my face. I think because I always give her kisses on her face, now she demands them when she's happy. The extreme version is when I'm reading she will 1. knock the book out of my hands 2. stand on my lap and stick her face in front of my face 3. not go away until I kiss it or give her scratches. (Also works when I'm watching tv. This especially works as a tool to wake me up, and my dreams always end with me being suffocated by fur.)

I just think that is so darn sweet! I really do.

Lexi does this when I'm on my computer. She will wiggle her way in between me and the computer and just stand there until I pay attention to her :rolleyes2::wink2:

Hilarious and what's worse is most of these my two silly ones do as well!

Deska likes a butt scratch too when I am on the loo - honestly these boys have no shame! And that extra long sheltie nose thats good for shoving into faces pockets and bags (looking for treats) or to push under my hand to make me pat them and sometimes resting in my lap while I am sitting on the royal throne:rolleyes2:

Ellie has so many--

Ellis is a great TV buddy. When I am watching TV she will jump up on the couch with me and put her two front leg on mine and stand on me while I rub her legs. This totally puts her into a trance. Her eyes get droopy and her head starts to sag and then all of the sudden, she just turns slights and DROPS into a lying down position so that her rear-end smacks into my lap and then she slides off so that she is lying tightly next to me. She is sound asleep in two seconds.

She yodels. I have never heard another dog do this. When she is super excited and is trying to tell you something (like someone is behind our fence) she gets this high-pitched warbble that sounds like yodeling.

When either of us goes out the front door, she goes bezerk and makes this God-awful painful and extremely LOUD sound that I can't even describe. It sounds like someone has stabbed her. She runs to the front studio window to see if she can glimpse where her person went. If Daddy gets in the truck and leaves without her she whines this nails-on-chalkboard gutteral "sigh."

Like some of the other Shelties here, Ellie rubs her face and upper body on the mud-mat we have outside the back door. It has a really tough, heavy, stiff bristles, so it must feel really good. Her groans of ecstacy are embarassing!

She goes NUTS if we put food into the CAT'S food bowl. She can not figure out why we need to feed the cat. She barks and jumps up and down in place. We now only put food in the cat's bowl if Ellie is outside going potty. It has become a covert operation.

I have so many, many more..............:rolleyes2:

Also, he feels he must have his water out of a plastic water bottle, we have a filter on our tap and the water is fine, but he will not drink it unless it comes out of that bottle and, get this, it has to be poured into a very small hamster dish to be lapped at and the dish must be refilled while "Mommy" asks "Angy, do you need more waters?"

Fiona is the same way. Also, the bottled water MUST be cold or she sniffs it and looks up at me, annoyed.

Marlowe hates to be left out of the conversation. If he is in his pen and DH and I are having a conversation in another room out of sight, Marlowe will cry and whine. It has nothing to do with being left alone; he is perfectly fine as long as we are not talking.

Marlowe loves feet. He has to check out the feet of everyone who comes in our door. When he finds feet he likes, he will lick and lick and lick. DH's, apparently, are a great delicacy. Mine, however, are not up to snuff :rolleyes2:

Her Sublime Sheltiness, the Empress Katie will only eat her dinner if I am holding her bowl. Somewhere along the line she developed this "quirk". If I put the bowl on the floor, she will sit and wait until I pick it up again and hold it for her. She will drink her water out of the bowl on the floor, no problem.

I can DO that??
Kewl.
I've been far too lax with Mommy and Daddy. - Skye

Quirks

Lacey sneezes when she's all excited about something too. She barks when we get the tin foil out (actually starts barking when we start to open up the drawer that it's in), barks at trucks, barks at measuring tapes and when we sneeze or cough. She throws her toys back at me when we're playing - it's hilarious. Doesn't like to play for very long though. Never seen a dog like her! She always takes one piece of her food and puts in the livingroom. No matter what. She then circles around the entire first floor and then she eats. When you rub her face and behind her ears she moans. Adorable!! When you go to put your arms out to bring her up on the couch she jumps into your arms. We just love her to pieces.
