Do you take dogs from the Tampa- Tarpon springs area? I have a freind in Tarpon that has been asked to help find a rescue to take a sheltie who's owner just passed away.

Possibly, pm Sunchaser, if you have not already. Praying she will be able to take this poor sheltie in that has lost it's human. So sad.

I just found out that a niece took the sheltie. Now they have to find homes for the 3 cats left behind. One maybe perfect for my friends mom.

This thread is just another remind that you should make provisions for your pets in case you pass!!! So so important.

One day it hit me when both of us were in the car, what if we died in a car accident, what would happen to my pets. I now have a plastic file of life it is called on my fridge and one in my car. It states our medical history if we could not speak and tells about our cats at home in need of food and water. It does have a family members name and phone number to call to come get the cats (with their permission of course) On the fridge under a magnet is a letter saying if something happens to us to call my Mother with her name and number and she will come for the cats, they will then belong to her. My mother by the way would take my cats in and keep them before she would me. Between my sister and mom they will never go to a pound or anywhere but their home. We do have a trust and it states in there the cats go to my mom as well so no accidents of removal to humane society. Since were redoing wills and our trust after the move we have done, there will be money in a small trust for our pets as well financially to make sure they have food and shots and not be a burden on those I ask to let them live their life out in a loving home.

Really wish I had the money to do this. I always have provisions for my current pets in my will (and update it as needed), and give a copy to whomever I am appointing as caretaker. I also have a letter placed with the funeral home I have selected to state that the ashes of my dogs and cats are to be buried in the casket with me. But I love the idea of a small trust that would ensure the care of my pets after I am gone.
