The Adventures of the Little Red Caboose

Yes, I like that back way from Morro Bay by the Museum into SLO by the Madonna Inn -- except there is a speed trap on that road but I didn't get caught. I stayed at Madonna Inn last year as a bucket list kinda dealie -- Oak Leaves Room to be exact.

I am 19 weeks and I peed on the carpet. Mom is mad! I know Mom is mad. I think I better reevaluate the peeing in the house part, but I was playing hard with Shay & Melody and I forgot myself.

Grandma is coming to my house today. I better be good for Grandma!

Momentous day for Cubby. He went from his puppy small tags to his big-boy tags on the swivel hanger so we get to see both tags. We have 1 tag with traditional contact, another with microchip data, and the county tag in between. Two custom pix of cabooses for double the fun from our favorite tag company Dog Tag Art. Age 19-1/2 weeks. Shaded sable sheltie. AKC Little Red Caboose.

I don't work for the tag company, I just think having custom color artwork on nearly indestructable tags is great fun. The ONLY thing that destroy these is puppy teeth. I bought a small size set (cat size) for the pup and his big boy set in the larger size (knowing he will be a large sheltie).

I use a collar with a breakaway or stretch feature for safety and walk on the Ruffwear Webmaster harness which is about the ONLY 100% inescapable harness on the market (as we proved in Morro Bay). He won't walk on martingale which I have used with my mature Melli girl & previous mature Aussies. I love the martingales, but having had Cubby slip out as well as Shay, I am no longer comfortable with anything but the ultimate harness, not for real world travels.

Today Cubby is 20 weeks. He is 15-1/2 inches tall now and 17.6 pounds. One ear is tipped. The other is partially tipped. We still have the full dark blaze though there is definitely a darker widow's peak. We start school next week. I don't think he really is mentally mature enough, but it will be good experience even if we redo the class before going on.

Wow he's way bigger than my 15 month old Hanna, and it looks like he still has loads of room to grow into those ears of his. He looks like such a character! It doesn't look as if you'll have any trouble keeping his weigh in check as he's pretty lean judging from the photos. A total cutie!
