The Face behind the Name....!

Lightplum, I too loved hotel work, but the pay truly sucked! If I won the lotto I would like to own my own boutique hotel or B&B. And Barb, I too am truly painfully shy. If it weren't for being forced into an acting class in college (my advisor said I needed another credit) I would never have discovered the world of live theater. I once played "Jeannie" in "Brigadoon" while in college and I have done a bit of chorus stuff since. I mostly help with high school and college plays that my kids are involved with. I love to costume and dig up props.

This is interesting to see what everyone does. I'm and administrative professional - that is the best way to sum up what I do. Right now I'm only working 16 hours a week and collecting un-enjoyment I mean un-employment for 3 days a week until this god for-saken auto industry comes back to life. My best job that I ever had was working for a company that collected used cell phones. I worked with all of the non-profits on launching there programs and helped them maximize the collections. The company restructured and I lost my position, but I loved that job - it had a purpose!!

What a big and diverse group of sheltie owners! Myself, I work for "the dark side". I'm a lawyer! Corporate commercial work only - I don't go to court, just draft and review lots of documents and help people get on with their business! Working hours are crap but it pays. Hoping to move from private practice to an inhouse position when the economy picks up! Ultimately, I'd like to migrate some place and start a dog-related business, like a doggy day care for busy people! I just got engaged recently and am training Romeo to walk down an aisle without swallowing the rings!

We were going to try to get Ella to do that, but shes a bit too nuts!

Lemme see, I have five jobs at the moment...hoping to give up one or two once hubby finds a job. Like others here, we've been victims of the economic disaster and he was laid off from his banking job in January. I've been a journalist for 20 years. At the moment, I write for a local newspaper, and I do equine and canine stories for a number of outlets. I write a weekly column, and a few days a week I have an office job editing weapons and defense analyses. I also edit books for a publisher, do contract PR, and have a petsitting business. In my spare time, you'll find me here on Sheltie Forum! Or sleeping...:sleepy:

Thanks for the kind words

I appreciate folks taking time to read a very long & sometimes windy blog, that has absolutely nothing to do with Shelties.

You might have noticed the doggy connections while reading. Several mentions of "Daily Drool" and "Cavalier" boards. Those are discussion groups (like Sheltie Forums) for basset hounds and cavalier king charles spaniels, respectively. There are many wonderful people on both of those groups, just like there are here. I kept those folks up to date with frequest posts during the hospitalization. While I was off work & my wife and I were back and forth to the burn unit in Cleveland, the two boards together collected around $3,000 and sent it to us to help cover expenses. How about that!

People who really love animals are just a better type of people, period.

To add to the list, I work as a nurse. I've been out of school for a year now and I am still debating if I made the right career choice, lol. I've also just recently started an apprentice dog training program that my trainer is offering, so we'll see where that goes.

Oh and Dave, you're right. "People who really love animals are just a better type of people, period."

I finally found some time to upload some pictures of myself and my family. These are all vacations pictures from April of this year. For some reason, after May the only house member who has had their picture taken was the four legged one. I wonder why? :rolleyes2:

Here is me eating a Shamu bar at Sea World in San Antonio, TX:

Here is me, my dad, and my fraternal twin sister sitting in front of a well at Six Flags Fiesta Texas:

Here is my mom and dad at the San Antonio Zoo at the Africa section by the fish tanks:

Last but not least, the most famous member of our house (this was before I cleaned the medicine covered fur around his ears, by the way. They look cleaner now):
