Those teeth

*heavy sigh*

In addition to worrying about Sparta’s size, I now have her teeth to lose sleep over. She started teething at pretty precisely 4 months, incisors have all dropped and grown out fine, but she now has a nice double set of bottom canines emerging. We have an appointment to pull them on Thursday, and I’m still trying to get them loose, but I’m pretty much giving up on the idea of showing. I’m hoping her bite still has time to correct itself enough to not cause wear or damage in her mouth as she gets older. :fl

I hope those teeth come out all right and that the bite will be fine. There's no guarantees, nature will do what it does...

Well, all our intense chewing sessions and rough play has done little to nothing to help, so tomorrow afternoon it's off to the vet to get them removed. I think they might be starting to bother her, so I'll be happy when it's over and done with.

We're back from the vet! The puppy is sleeing and it went well - kind of. At least now we know she isn't drug sensitive! She's also a stubborn little thing, but I already knew that.

She fought off the first shot of sedation pretty easily, there was just no way that the great SPARTACUS would ever submit to such foolishness! Since I was reluctant to go home (and wait ANOTHER week) with a puppy who's teeth were already bothering her, the vet decided to try to knock her straight out with the anesthesia. Sparta wasn't too happy about that, but after getting the recommended dosage - and a little more, and then some - she figured it was time for a nap. I went out to run some errands while the good ladies worked. Fifteen minutes later I received a text saying they were done and I could pick her up in half an hour. Four more minutes pass, and I receive another text - actually, she's wide awake, so I can just come get her now. So apparently she just shrugs off a near-double dose of drugs. She came home and immediatley sprinted the stairs twice.

She's pretty tired now (and cuddly, and feeling very sorry for herself), with a baby-blue smiley-faced bandage around her front leg, but at least the teeth are out, and we can look forward to a good night's sleep.

LOL Your Sparta sounds like my Mickey. I was told it would be 4+ hours before he would be fully out from under and ready to come home following a brain and spinal MRI. I decided to wait at the hospital (just on a hunch) and sure enough 20 minutes after the specialist finished the MRI he came out and said..."Mickey is up, bouncing around and totally ready to leave."

Glad all went well and Sparta is back home! Hope everyone gets a good night's sleep.

I'm glad everything went well! Sounds like the great Sparta has certainly earned her namesake!

And up until now I've had people telling me she's too small for her name!
Hopefully the top canines will drop in their own. Despite everything working out fine in the end, I don't want to repeat it any time soon.
