Those that Feed Fromm

I find it interesting that others are finding more mats than normal this year as well. It makes me feel better that it may not be the food, but rather weather related.

I usually don't condition their coat, but I am going to try and use a conditioner after I bathe and line brush them this week, and hope that maybe that helps keep the mats away.

I expect dry coat is an issue overall. I've been trying to compensate using product and probably over-compensated and made it worse and created coat build up. Which is really freakin' hard to brush out, and therefore makes mats harder too.

A fierce cycle. At least for me. Per another thread, I'm swearing off product for awhile. My boys are going for a full meal deal grooming on Thursday with my new hire, then I'm sticking to pure water for brushing, but I will be doing some salmon supplements, I think.

Fromm

I have been rotating through the grain free Fromm varieties for about 5 months now. In about the last month or so, it hit me that I have to trim a LOT of mats out of my dogs hair. It seems like my dogs are getting mats on their pants, pits, etc. at an alarming rate recently. I asked my mom about this, as she changed foods that same time I did and she is having the same problem with her Sheltie and one of her setters coats looks extremely dull compared to how it used to look.

I was wondering what those of you that feed this food think about the coat condition of your dogs. Otherwise, it was fine, although my girls poops are a bit large then they were on TOTW and they are not as hard as they were.

I am still bummed about the Diamond aspect, as my dogs did so well on TOTW. What a shame.

I know that Fromm is a good food, I am just wondering if it may not be the right food for us.

I would love to hear others experiences with Fromm who feed it.

I just switched to Fromm about 2 months ago and have had no problems with dry coats, mats or anything else. That is weird. But I also give Fish Oil to them so maybe that helps.Shadow's breeder uses it also and to my knowledge has had no probelms.I will have to ask her about it.

I give fish oil 4 days a week or so. Cora's only 12-13lbs so I'm nervous she'd get too much taking it every day - like all good things, I think care should be taken not to overdo it. Keep in mind also that commercial fish oils are made for 100+ pound humans, and the fact that a lot of better dog foods already have some fish.

So maybe is just something else going on here.

Thanks for all the replies everyone!!! Before I started this thread I was seriously contemplating changing up their food....but now I think I will just stick to it.

By the way, I use Fromm with fish oil a few times a week as well. It makes Buffy more likely to eat her food and it's good for her too. I haven't noticed her coat being any different this year.... it's just really floofy despite the 90–100 degree temps, so I am always trying to get more undercoat out. Her groomer did a great job of it last week, but it is already coming back!

Also, any feedback on Earthborn

I tried Earthborn Primitive natural and it was really good. My dog loved it and was doing really well on it.

PS: I feel so behind but whats wrong with TOTW?
