Throwing up

Ashley I am so sorry to hear it is a blockage. I am praying things will start moving along on the weekend and you can avoid surgery. You have had a tough week and must be exhausted. I'm really sorry you are going through all this.

Sending prayers that poor Bentley can pass this quickly on his own without needing surgery, and that the family can soon heal and move forward both physically and emotionally.

Oh Bentley don't do this again. I think the biggest plus is that he is eating and food is there to help him pass it, and protect the colon.

May you have a healthy elimination and be rid of the metal. All positive thoughts coming your way.

Sending lots of prayers for all of you~ I hope everything passes without any more complications.
Keeping you in my prayers

GET WELL BENTLEY!!

Oh no! I had a feeling it was blockage. Poor Bentley . I'm so glad you brought him to the vet yesterday to get a diagnosis. How is he feeling today?

I hope the metal object passes through his body soon and he does not need surgery. I will keep Bentley in my thoughts.

He is doing okay today. Last night he was feeling better (no throwing up) and even played with Lexi some.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNlS2O4MlHk (PS: Notice Lexi at the end grabbing a pair of underwear from the laundry pile in the floor? Naughty!)

He woke up around 3 this morning and coughed a few times (dry heave?) but nothing came up.

I fed him around 7 and he was eating really slowly, which is very unusual. He would take a piece in his mouth (one at a time!) and chew it up for a long time, then slowly swallow it. Poor buddy. The vet said to continue feeding him, but I don't think I'll feed him dinner tonight. It was too sad to watch.

He hasn't pooped since Friday.

We take him in tomorrow at 9...and I was instructed not to feed him that morning. Something tells me he will go into surgery then. My poor buddy :(

does the vet offers gastroscopy?
Did your vet discussed inducing vomiting? Is the object sharp and large?
another option to try is to give bulky meal, including bread with some greasy oil added and take Bentley for loooong energetic walk. Bulky meal is bound either advance or come up and activity will increase digestive motility...
Poor Mr Bentley, he so wanted to play:no:

I wasn't at the vet's (bad, I know) but DH said that they don't normally want to induce vomiting since first of all it's too late, and second of all they didn't know what the object was. It isn't large, but we really aren't sure what it is. I keep thinking that it must be a clasp or a snap, but I really don't know.

I asked DH to find out where the blockage was, but he forgot to ask.

I know they mentioned possibly going in and pulling it out with a scope, but it just depends where it is.

The vet also mentioned the bread idea, but she said that she had heard that bread works, but she didn't know for sure. I think we will try that this afternoon.

Poor little Bentley.:(

Without seeing the radiographs I can't really comment but I guess what he has is a foreign body in his GI system(probably the stomach) not really a blockage per say. Blockages we don't wait and see especially if it has been going on several days and syptomatic. The vet must have seen the object and nothing that concerned them enough to go to surgery that day. Inducing vomiting will likely not help as he is vomiting already. i would also not give him a greasy meal with as that is more likely to cause pancreatits than move the object. I have tried cat hair laxative though but if the object is too big to get out of the stomach it likely won't pass.

Sending prayers for Bentley that the radiographs show it has moved and that the signs he is showing now are just from irriation.
