Throwing up

thank you for continuing to support me and read all my ramblings. Its been a huge help to me to have people like all of you who are willing to listen to a fellow sheltie lover pour their heart out! I have had my dog's records forwarded to the holistic vet so she will be the only one I take Holly to from now on. Its takes a little more effort but my baby is worth it :) This morning she walked outside and barked at someone walking past our house and it made me so happy to see that! I'm not sure where our journey will take us, but I'm fortunate I was in a position to try another method of treatment for her. thank you again for bearing with me and reading all my notes.

Thank you for continuing to update us on Holly.

hard to believe I am so very happy to hear about a Sheltie barking.. at the neighbours at that, lol
I am glad she is still having a good time and you met a Vet that works for you guys

I'm glad to hear Holly is doing better! We lost our 12 year old Sheltie to kidney disease last October, and all this brings back so many memories of the sub-q fluids, anti-nausea meds, etc. I just wish I had known about this forum then. I could have used the great advice and emotional support! It sounds like you are doing everything you can possibly do for your girl. Just love her and celebrate the little things, and we will all wish you happier and healthier days ahead!!

a plug for holistic vets ? (or: don't give up!)

Hello again. I was so touched reading your stories about your precious dogs. This board has been an emotional lifesaver for me - I am a worrier by nature (or thanks to my mom's influence.)

We went back to the (new) vet last week to have another blood draw done because the dog was on antibiotics and the white blood cell count had been slightly elevated the week prior, as were alkaline phosphates (she was taking mylanta at the time.) Today, the doctor called with the beautiful results -- the dog's kidney (creatnine, BUN, phosphorous) had all dropped back into normal or near-normal range, alkaline phosphate had returned to normal, and her white blood cell count had also come down to where she no longer needs to be force-fed Baytril twice a day.

I am nearly speechless today because my baby is almost all the way back to her old self - barking, begging, whining for attention, alert, sweet and most importantly, alive! (and able to do a 4 hour car trip twice this last Easter weekend :) I am certain she would have been gone for at least a couple of weeks by now if I had stayed with my old vet when they said there was nothing more to be done (except bring her back to be put down.)

We were fortunate that we were able to try an alternative holistic vet after our conventional vet blew us off, and I just wanted to sincerely thank all of you again for your comfort and support and to say don't ever give up! I know the journey ends for all of us someday, but we have been gifted with more precious time. I never would have dreamed of going to a holistic veterinary provider, mostly because I knew nothing about how they worked-- and I certainly would not have dreamed the dog could have literally been brought back from the brink, but miracles can indeed happen! Our new vet is an answered prayer.

Thank you again, and Happy Spring!

I smiled all the way through your post :) I am so happy that your girl is doing so well. She is lucky to have a persistent, caring mom like you!

:biggrin2:Thanks for the update! I love getting good news. It sound like you are well on your way to a super healthy dog. Yeah

I was so happy to read your news, Janice, congratulations!! I couldn't agree more about holistic vets. Mine cured Pixie of her epliepsy and I'm a believer. I'm thrilled that it worked for you and you're enjoying your pup again! :biggrin2:

That's wonderful Janice! Holistic medicine has helped me tremendously where traditional medicine failed me, so I know what a wonder it can be. I'm so glad that you've seen such positive results. :smile2:
