Throwing up

That is great news! Thanks for letting us know. A good holistic vet is worth their weight in gold. Or cookies! Hope your girl continues to improve.

Thanks for your update. This is defnitely better news than what you got last week. I have friends who had their dogs literally brought back from the dead by their holistic veterinarians. Your pup is very lucky that you are willing to search out every avenue. I will keep you guys in my thoughts.

small bit of good news...

hello again. We went back to the holistic vet today for some blood work and B12 injections and found that Holly's creatnine dropped from 4.6 to 3.5, her potassium is now in normal range and phosopurous (sp?) is down as well. BUN has remained the same - I'm grateful at least that it didn't get worse...

Holly seems a little more alert these last few days which has lightened my heart tremendously. It was getting so that I was afraid to leave the house because I felt like I didn't know what I'd find when I returned. Last week, my husband administered the subQ fluids and left the house. When I got home, there was a smear of blood on the kitchen floor with the dog no where to be found. I nearly fainted from fear. Dog was napping on the tile bathroom floor and had a small trickle of blood & fluid down her side. The best I can guess is that she leaked a little when hubby got done and it ran onto the kitchen floor and she smeared it when she got up to move. Now I don't leave her out of my sight until I know she's not dripping anything.

On an interesting note, I went to return my unused cans of Purina OM to our original vet yesterday and they asked how Holly was doing with the holistic vet. I told them one of the supplements she was using was called Standard Process Canine Renal Support. To which they replied "we have that too.." I wonder why they never offered it to us. I was flabbergasted. I think they must have known 2 weeks ago that I was desperate and willing to try just about anything - once - to see if it would help the dog but they never suggested anything other than bringing her back when she was weak and ready to be put down.

I'm so glad your pup is doing better. It's amazing what holistic medicine can do. It can be more time consuming and a bit more expensive, but the results are worth it. My little Pixie's epilspsy was cured by holistic medicine, so I'm a believer.

I think I would consider changing your mainstream vet though...doesn't sound like there's a lot of personal attention to your dog's needs there....

thank you for continuing to support me and read all my ramblings. Its been a huge help to me to have people like all of you who are willing to listen to a fellow sheltie lover pour their heart out! I have had my dog's records forwarded to the holistic vet so she will be the only one I take Holly to from now on. Its takes a little more effort but my baby is worth it :) This morning she walked outside and barked at someone walking past our house and it made me so happy to see that! I'm not sure where our journey will take us, but I'm fortunate I was in a position to try another method of treatment for her. thank you again for bearing with me and reading all my notes.

Hi Janice,
So happy to read your last post, that Holly was out barking at the neighbours.
Hoping this is the start to a complete recovery.
Glad to hear that the holistic treatments are working
