Well, we can do the same Hanne. Its ultimately up to the owner of the puppy. Latest research is that the earlier an owner starts socialization the better. The risk of not socializing at these ages you mention outweighs the slight chance of a puppy getting a disease. After the first set of shots Minnie's breeder and vet encouraged us to take Minnie lots of places and to meet people and dogs, within reason ofcourse, common sense prevails!
 
Yes, he loves going with us on adventures! We try to take him in the car almost every day. We still aren't allowed at pet stored, dog parks, or other places with too many dogs. But we take him to a local cafe that has outside seating and to my family's houses to play with their (fully vaccinated) dogs

We can't wait to be able to take him to more places after his third round of shots :)

I took my puppy to our local pet food store when I first got her and put her in the shopping cart on a blanket, after her second set of shots she walked in, at about 3 1/3 months old. I also took her to the local building supply store. Puppy class, and around the neighborhood. We also visited friends and family. It's so good for them!

that surprised me so much
when I joined this amazing forum 5 years ago.

It is an old hoax?? /joke?? that the puppy must not be taken out before the finish vaccinated (ie at about 16 weeks of age) because the puppy will get sick. If the puppy is otherwise healthy and is on a vaccination program, you can safely take it out after its 8th week of life. The positive experiences the puppy has with people, the environment etc. are irreplaceable and fundamental to the dog's well-being as an adult, and they far overshadow the very small risk that the puppy can become infected and ill.

I think our vet is somewhere in-between. She said the worst that could happen at this point is he could potentially catch a cold (which she said is not really a big deal) We were having a lot of cases of Parvovirus because there are many foxes and coyotes around but Toby has had multiple vaccinations against it so far and she doesn't think it's anything to worry about now.

I have heard/read a lot from vets and vet technicians in our country telling people to not bring their puppy outside at all until they're over four months old, not even to potty!! Definitely feels extreme. We were bringing him outside right away at least in the patch of grass outside our apartment.

We took him to a nearby street fair yesterday. Lots of new sights/dogs/lots of people and he did great!
