Go for it! I agree that you don't need formal classes so long as you know the signs and Beau already knows basic obedience. Has Beau ever been at a show? What I would do is look to see if there are any Rally matches nearby where you can do run throughs (I know CKC lists matches so AKC must also so check them out). Good luck!

check local club websites for listings of matches/run throughs. if there's one associated with a trial, it should be listed in the premium.

You can also check out the AKC and look under events and then look for matches (they are sometimes listed under conformation). Do you have any local dog group on facebook...(we have something called manitobadogs here (my province) that different dog groups post dates for matches to...usually a week or so before a show).
