Too much food?

There was a study, several years ago, of a couple of labrador litters I think, and feeding them different amounts. They found the ones that were kept lean as puppies had less joint issues and lived longer than the rest of the litter.

Shelties never need what's on the pack - they can run on an oily rag, I think that's why so many of them get chubby.

Thanks for the info. Scout is now on decreased intake!

If it makes you feel any better, my dog always thinks she’s starving

Brodie just stole a hamburger like he's been on the streets for months on end! Choked on it, barfed it up and I was able to toss it so no calorie gain. He's gotten REALLY good at counter surfing these past 2 or 3 months and to make things worse - the cat pushes stuff off for them.... UGH! Outnumbered here!

Yep, I forgot to address the exercise part of the equation. Will he play fetch? Or at least chase a ball or stick or frisbee that's thrown? We have a fishing pole rigged up with a toy that we can use to get the dogs chasing and leaping. If you have the time, a couple of walks a day for at least 45 minutes will help a lot.

1 1/2 cups a day of puppy food is a TON of calories. I would cut him back right away to a rounded 1/2 cup twice a day - fill in with veggies and a tablespoon of pumpkin if he's still starving.
Ok. I did that today. 1/2 cup twice a day. How many calories are in bully sticks? Because he is a puppy and loves to chew, he always has a bully stick to chew on.
