Toothless in Texas

Howdy Folks,

I hope all of you are doing good these days under the circumstances. We have been doing well as a family thanks mostly to Remy's energy keeping us busy and on our toes at all times. Exercise is the great tamer for him as far as biting and not listening so we're doing all we can in between storms to keep him active. Although Remy continues to bite/teeth, he's much less painful now a days because he's lost so many teeth!

Remy is right at 5 months old and he's lost all 4 of his razor sharp baby canines and a few other weird looking ones in the last week. I don't remember our first Sheltie losing a single tooth for some reason (wife doesn't recall either). Do any of you have teething tales to tell?

That's a lot of teeth to find! Probably still more to go.

I think I found only one tooth when my two were teething. I figured they probably ate them (sounds gross but lots of good nutrients there).

Sort of like me with my kids baby teeth - haha!!!

Save them in case he wants them when they are older - or don't listen to me, my kids think 'it's gross' that I saved them.

Yes, since we're all home 24/7 and Remy is never out of our sight (cuz he likes to find trouble), when we see him chewing at something, we act fast and fish it out of his mouth. The canines mostly came out when playing fetch with his favorite rubber ball - being thrown from the kitchen down to the front dining room.

Wow! That is quite the collection! For what ever reason Liam ate his baby teeth!! Maybe your first sheltie did too?

I had to have 2 of Piper's insizors pulled when he was 2 (he has lance canines and they were too close) and I saved them. They were gross and still are lol!

I think in the end, we found 8 of Mindy’s baby teeth. We saved them and gave them to our vet who threw them out LOL!

Yes, that's a whole lot of teeth. I never found any of Baron's and I only found one of Devon's. I certainly don't miss those puppy teeth though. Devon was a wild puppy and his idea of having a good time playing meant that he'd better have drawn blood within the first ten seconds. For a while I had sores all over my hands from him play biting me (play for him, not me) and one of my friends asked me only half jokingly if I had contracted some awful disease.

Meadow is 5 months also and has not lost a canine yet!! Her upper and lower incisors are in, and today she lost a small molar due to playing tug with a rope toy. Interesting that Remy has already lost so many teeth. When exactly was he born? Meadow is 1/27/20.
