Trapp knows his mom is sick~

Good Morning Everyone! I hope everyone gets feeling better today.

Here is my cure for the common Cold (and the uncommon cold as well):

Stay in bed ALL day long the first day of a cold. Don't go to work, dont go to the store. Stay in bed, then.....

First thing in the morning:
Place 1 Clove Garlic (smashed with fork) in a tea cup. Pour 8 to 10 oz of BOILING water over it and steep for at least 4 minutes. Add 1tbsp each of honey and lemon. Drink as hot as you can.

For 72 hours drink NO milk or Orange Juice (both cause mucus), but drink as much water, pure apple juice (no sugar) and clear chicken broth (as low sodium as you can get) as you can and as hot as you can for the first 24 hours.

Take 500mg of chewable vitamin C every 4 hours for 48 hours. (Don't worry, your body will tell you if you get too much vitamin C :biggrin2:)

At noon, Make the same tea as morning again.

At 4:00PM Make the tea again

At 8:00 PM Make the tea again and this time add 2 tbsp chopped ginger root (this is fresh ginger not powdered) and here is the best part, add a shot of good whiskey.

Now put your warmest and most comfortable jams on and wool socks, take a flannel blanket and wrap up in it like a mummy and crawl into bed with at least one sheltie to warm your back and stay there till the next morning.

Ok, I take this a step further and fast while I am sick other than these liquids listed. This is just my opinion though and ohhh what is the medical disclaimer....you know, do what is right for you and follow your doctors advice and all of that CYA stuff.

I will tell you this though. Our colds do not linger and we are up and running with the pup again in short time.

Well let me see I have all the ingrediants except fresh ginger! But I vaguely remember my Grandmom giving me a cup of hot tea one time, and it packed a powerful punch of ginger,so I'm guessing it was powder.

It's a good thing Trapp has been so good these last few days, and well Earnie is as mellow & slow as it gets,so there is definately lots of body heat on the bed.

Thank you for the prescription!
Now I need to find the bottle of Jim Beam,as I have heard that there is one big ruckus going on in Ontario, and something about a sheltie party...I saw it on CNN this morning!

Thank you again!

Ugh! You poor thing. You've got whatever my hubby had, but he refuses to go to the doctor and in all honesty, I hate having to treat him like a child and take him myself so I'm letting him suffer it out. Going on two weeks now. Hope you get some antibiotics or something and maybe a breathing treatment. I hope it's not pneumonia. Get well soon.

On a Sheltie note. My older dog, Miko has been sticking to my hubby like glue too. Koji, he could care less. lol. I will always remember my first sheltie, Prince. One day, my brother wouldn't let me play on our jungle gym (remember those? and yes, this was prolly 30 years ago) and I cried. I remember standing at the door to the house, and Prince nudging my hand. He pushed his head under my hand then leaned against me. I hugged him. (and I used to think he was soooo big!) And he just stayed there with me until I got over it. That's one of the biggest reasons I wanted a Sheltie when I got older.

Okay. Back to you. Get well, and tell us how the doc appt goes.

Yes, shelties are so in tune to our feelings, whether that be physical or emotional. If we are sad, Mally tries to cheer us up, bringing us his toys, or acting silly. And when we are physically sick, he will stick to us like glue/ never wanting to let us out of his sight. Shelties are such great dogs.

Well I did go to the doctor today.I had tossed the idea of going to the ER,but I did'nt want to take up space sitting for an endless amount of time in a waiting room. Last night was horrible,I feel asleep last night with a compress draped over my forehead,I had such pressure in my sinus.

But it is bronchitis, although my lungs a clear, which is a good thing. I had some Cipro here on hand,(in case of a flare up of diverticulitis) so I did take some yesterday. He gave me a new script for Cipro, and a shot of something to help with my sinus infection, and a shot of vitamin C.

I've pretty much slept on the sofa, away form the fireplace,as this wood heat is not helping matters. And staying close to a humidifier, which seems to be helping.

Hopefully soon I will get some relief of sinus pressure, and the chest cold will start to break up. Actually this whole thing is getting old,I hate feeling this way.
Just going to rest,drink fluids.

I hope you get some relief soon Michele! The flu is no joking!

Bronchitis is horrible. I had it a few years ago. I felt like I was coughing up a lung. I let it go too long before I went to the DR. Although, the cough medicine I was prescribed did wonders :)

Yep..that about what I feel. Actually I feel like crap.
Don't know how long its going to take for the cipro to do its thing.Hopefully soon. It's a good thing Trapp has been an angel,no zoomies,no barking.

Not even when I sneeze. Which I did loads of in bed last night, while I was watching Cake Boss. I thought for sure it would send him into barking frenzy. He just kinda moved farther down the bed, while I was having a sneezing fit.

I'm sure all the pent up non zoomie moments..will come back to bite me in the butt. But by then hopefully I will be feeling much better.

I went to the doc too today- also got a shot and diagnosis of sinus infection. so some antibiotics too. hope we all feel better soon
