Tsunami at the agility field

It is awful what's going on in Japan. They are thankfully very well prepared for these things - when I went to Japan the first thing they said was, if there is an earthquake, hide under a table - it's that common. But it looks like the magnitude of the last one has caused a lot of devastation.

There are many great breeders in Japan. They love the US/Can type shelties. Prayers to all over there. :(

One of Emma's grandfathes, Jap, Am, Can Ch Golden Hilites' the Phantom was also in Japan. I am not sure if he is still alive, but he is the dog who was the most expensive to buy from Canada.

Goldenhylite.com Phantom passed Jan. 14, 2006. Nancy Tibben has a wonderful In Memory of him on her site. Beautiful sheltie, my Lil' Lady has Phantom in her line, that is why I am familiar with him.

I seen those pictures of the houses and cars flowing, I can't even imagine the fear the residents had that day. The positive, that the nations are pulling together and helping Japan.

I too pray for Japan, their people, and of course the shelties. I pray that nuclear plant remains under control for them. So scary.

Its so hard to believe your eyes while watching this happening on the news.

Thanx Sable for the info on The Phantom.

My boss emailed me from Guyana to let me know that his brother and wife in Japan are okay, but they are shocked by the devastation there. She is Japanese.

So my Emma and your Lady are cousins of sorts.

Danielle, that photo made me smile and brought a tear to my eye. For all we know, that sweet Sheltie may be the only link that man has to his past before the disaster. I pray that they find shelter from harm and peace in the days to come.

I heard some good news about the people and dogs related to that agility field. This is the message that was cross-posted from the Colorado Yahoo Group.
"The agility groups have been extremely resourceful in trying to
determine the site in the picture
and fate and contacting those involved. They have even already
set up a donation fund to
help the group with purchasing new equipment. More info can be
found with the Colorado
Agility yahoo group.

This latest post was very comforting to read and hope it to be
true.

I just read another post that EVERYONE from the "agility team" is
accounted
for. They were not at the site when the tsunami hit. Still
waiting on
other information.

Trish, I think it would be great if you could set up the Chip In
Donation
site. Thank you!

That picture made me smile, dispite what is going on. I love the look on the Sheltie's face-calm and peaceful, in the face of danger. He/she must have been a great comfort to his/her owner. Prayers for EVERYBODY in Japan, dog, cat, animals, and people.

What a fascinating story, such smart dogs to head upstairs instead of running out in the street where they could have been swept away or injured in the debris.
