Tully had a seizure

I hope Tully is back with you tomorrow, Caro. It's so hard to be separated from them. We have some strange bacterial thing going around dogs here apparently. A friend of mine just had her 12 y.o. in ER for three days with it. I do hope Tully's issue is simple and curable.

I start scanning my dogs for gallbladder at age 5. I recommend to puppy people that they start no later than 7.
 
Tully's home and ate breakfast this morning. They have increased her prednisolone which is disappointing. The ortho vet said Tully can't be on Pred after having that plate in her leg as it will fail, and her other tendons will probably go too, plus the pred is not good for her kidney disease. It's a hard choice. The pred makes her comfortable, gives her pain relief and makes her hungry, but it will also kill her.

Tully will be 15yrs old next month. She is such a bloody tough old bird, I expect her to make it that far at least.

These old guys can be so surprising. I am amazed at how spunky Gavin can be one moment, and then he'll fall down the next. But as long as he comes begging when I eat dinner I know he's his old self in there.
 
Don't know if it would apply here, but I convinced my doctor to increase the frequency of my meds instead of increasing the dosage. Maybe it would work for Tully in the same way. I know I feel better on lower dosages than when he had me take it once a day, and get better results
 
We had a couple of good days and then she crashed yesterday. But she seems a little better today.

When she's on Prednisilone every day it's very hard to tell how she's going. The Pred helps her aches and pains so she physically feels good, but she also wants to eat everything - and I wonder if being sick yesterday was from getting into something. She was chewing the ground yesterday, maybe she got some bird or possum poop.
 
Pred is one of those love/hate things. It is so good as an anti-inflammatory but they side effects, yikes. I've been on it twice, only 10 days at a time, and that was enough for me. Actually suppressed my appetite, but gave me the worst insomnia. Glad to hear Tully had at least a couple of good days. Taking it one day at a time is about all you can do at this point. Wishing you many more "up" days to come.
