USDAA vs.AKC.vs.CPE vs.TDAA

There have been comments made by the creator of usdaa that usdaa is not for all dogs. It is for certain dogs who fit a certain height range.

Akc vs.USDAA vs.CPE.vs.TDAA

AKC is my first choice of venue and USDAA would be my second.Where I am located there is an abundance of all venues and the driving distant to most is top 2 hours unless you decide to go to NJ, OR NY then 3 hours depending the location. The top venues here that most people compete in are AKC, USDAA, then NADAC,and CPE and ASCA.I love AKC and love the courses. They are fun and challenging(and some people think they are way to easy and this is JMO if they were then these people should have their MX,MXJ and working on a MACH).AKC is very tough on the leash rule. The downside to AKC is there is alot of wiat time(and then I volunteer to make the day go by faster)and it is very expensive.CPE is not for me and the courses way to easy but is a great venue to bring a green dog to trial but for me the downside to CPE is if I trained on alll the equipment then I want all the equipment.Nadac was fun but maybe do it once a year.In USDAA I wish their Starter jumpers they would have weaves.A friend of mine was bragging what a great time she had in Starter Jumpers and I said that was awesome and she went on to say it was much faster than my JWW run in AKC and I told it was but we had weaves where as her class had none and that is why she had a faster time.TDAA is a nice venue for toy breeds .:biggrin2:

Too easy or too predictable?
AKC courses appear imo for the most part to present courses that consist of a predictable set of challenges, lacking in creativity, and the variation is simply the order in which you do things... the same common sequences.
Whenever something that is presented that isn't found commonly in AKC there does tend to be a lot of chatter or questions... e.g. backside jumps.

You need to come to New England and experience AKC around here.Great bunch of people as the other venues are.

I think I'd love to go to NE and do some trials, it seems like the people are much more friendly and you always talk about how fun it is. I dunno, here, a lot of people don't interact, some are just downright snobby, and others are so focused on their Q, they're flat out rude. I've also seen/heard volunteers chewing people out, yelling at people, and some clubs have the rudest people I have ever met. Sometimes it sucks to be at those trials.

Yes -- We've been to some of the same trials Cheryl & I witness this way too often & have been the victim of some of that too - even while volunteering myself.
Don't know if you've done Point Loma in SD -- but the whole atmosphere there is so much different. It is the people that make a difference.

Maybe where you are located but certainly not here. You need to come here and do the largest AKC agility trial in the country and run these courses.

I know Sharon said it's not like that where she is. I wonder if it's because there are so many more "top" people over there than here? I could be way wrong. Maybe that's why I find it "easy". Because it's predictable. This goes in circles all the time. That goes in a circle, then switchback this way.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that see that Sealtainn. Since you said we are at the same trials, obviously, we must see the same things. BTW, I have never seen a "backside jump" yet in AKC.

I've only done Point Loma with NADAC. I think the big issues I have seen is at Industry. Not so much at Walnut, but seen some bad things going on there too. Ugh!

Sealtainn, just wondering if I know you in person. LOL. Have I ever met you? PM me.
