Veni Vedi Vici . . .

I have my very own Spencer named Tucker. I just am curious as to even if she has a bark. I am looking for the mute button for both of them. Mute Tucker; UnMute Madi! HA!

Once I had to leave my sheltie at a kennel because of a family crisis and I had no time to find anyone else to watch her at home. When I came home and picked her up, the kennel people just loved her, said she never barked the whole time I was gone. I think she must of been very scared because I had never done that to her before. Yeah, she could bark really, really well when she wanted to. Madi may be the same way, or could she have been debarked? They still usually make some kind of noise. She'll probably start barking soon and you'll wish she were more quiet again :D LOL.
By the way you've already done wonders for her, lucky girl to have found you!!

Was she debarked at some point, do you think?

I don't think it removes the bark entirely, though just lessens the noise. Indy was apparently debarked....not that I could tell or anything! He barks at everything! :(

Bacca will only occasionally bark and when he does, it surprises even him! "Yikes - did I make that noise?!

My first Sheltie; Tyler, was de-barked and in ways I understand why...although I would never do it. My hunny works graveyards and I like the fact that Tucker will alert me when he hears things(even though it is over stupid stuff sometimes). She hasn't even made the attempt at showing me if she is de-barked.

Tomorrow we are taking a road trip to my familys ranch. Maybe she will get a little more spunk and yap yap yap!

Callie was adopted from a rescue and it was some time (months) before I heard her make any barking sounds. She was debarked- and it's actually a very cute bark- kind of like "hup hup". My other dog taught her to bark when I come home from work. She ends up spinning behind him and hupping while he's in the window barking very loudly. :wink2:

I may be out of context with this post as I did not read all the replies, but when it was a good while before Sophie began to bark. Trust me and enjoy the quiet while you can. She now barks more frequently, though not enough to bother me. Like Callie, she learned to bark from my parents dog.

I'm back from my parents ranch and I have to say I'm happy but kind of sad. Miss. Madi fell in absolute love with my parents, their property and my niece so I decided that maybe she would do great there. I don't think she was used to living indoors and being that I live in an apartment she was very unsure. As soon as she saw the fields her tail began to wag like crazy. She detached from me within 10 minutes and straight to my mom. I felt a bit betrayed but maybe she looked familar to her. My niece is 2 and is typically wild and crazy and as soon as she saw Madi she started whispering little secrets to her. I over heard her asking "Will you be my puppy?" I'm assuming she learned that from a movie or book?

So while I will miss her; I do get to see her almost every weekend. I will continue to update everyone with postings and pictures.

I am really thinking about looking for a double merle now. HUM!

I think what you did was remarkable! You put Madi and your family first. I sure wish more people were like you!!

Thank you! It was so hard to leave but I figured it was better to leave her than to pull her from where she seemed very happy. Plus my parents had the Sheltie bug since theirs passed away two years ago. That darn bug.
