Hello everyone -

While I just joined the forum this morning, I have enjoyed viewing Sheltie Nation pics in my inbox every day. Each of my four Shelties have pics/videos that have found their way to Kelly's site - thank you Kelly :)

Also wanted to put the word out that I am available to foster Shelties should anyone need some help :) However, I don't have any experience with the more difficult cases.

I foster for Granite State Sheltie Rescue, as well as the Sheltie rescue based out of Portland, Maine.

Have a great rest of the weekend!

Tracey

Welcome, and that's great that you foster. I am sure you will have many neat stories to share and I know there are many shelties that need your care .

So happy to meet you - virtually - via SN!!

Hubby and I have three shelties and just took in our first foster, an 11-month old named Balto. There is always lots of barking at our house and sometimes it's a bit unnerving, but the unconditional love we get in return is priceless.

From one foster mom to another - thank you!!

Hi Tracey--welcome to the forum! I have 3 shelties and have recently joined the Kennebec Valley Sheltie Club in Maine--they do the sheltie rescue/fostering for Maine and it is a great group. This weekend is the annual Bark-B-Q and there will be a raffle and other things to benefit sheltie rescue activities. I'm just hoping the weather cooperates; the forecast is terrible.

Hope to hear more about you and your shelties!

Doggy foster Moms are the best. Our two rescues had the best experience in foster care. Bailey was a house broken puppy when we got him thanks to an amazing foster Mom. Katy had such a hard time before she came to foster and I think if foster Dad had been willing she might have joined foster Mom's pack. She was so good to Katy and I think it had a HUGE impact on the progress she's made with us.

Welcome, great to hear you are a Sheltie foster mom. I foster occasionally for our local shelter and have had everything from a Golden/Cattle Dog mix to a Chihuahua mix (complete with broken leg). It's very rewarding.

My only problem is my very timid kitty who ends up hiding the whole time the new dog is here, and my two resident Shelties who get jealous of having to share mom. So, I try to limit myself to short term fostering, up to a month or so at a time. At least, I'm making a difference.
