I have an application with them, Mid Tennesse, one up in Indiana, the Memphis one, got em all looking for me a sheltie that's within my preferences. I am not sure what happened with East Tenn, but they just don't respond anymore. I had an application in for Doll and their site updated to Adoption Pending the day after our home interview and that was the last I heard from them. I hope she found a home, because I would of gave her a great one.
 
Don't know if you saw it but there is a tri bitch in Cleveland ,Tennessee shelter looking for a home that Danny's Mommy put up mistakenly as Cleveland Ohio. Thought you might be interested.

Don't know if this intersts you or not,but I have a connection for a rescue in NJ. They have worked the last two years feaverishly on a hoarding situation. The last of the dogs have been held as evidence,and have just been released to Julie.
She is looking for prospective homes. Many of these shelties are so beautiful,abeit have been in a hoarding situation previously. But could be something you may or (may not) want ot inquire about.

There's bi-black Sheltie at the Animal Shelter in Gwinnett County (N. of Atl.). I can't tell from the pictures if it's a purebred or not. Here's another at a rescue in Gwinnett. He's purebred but, older.
 
I wonder if the bi-black got adopted. I checked the site just now & don't see anything but Australian Shepherds. My son is near Gwinnett County & is coming home for Christmas. Wonder if I could con him into bringing me one? The one in rescue looks sweet too & should be gorgeous when his fur grows back.

I was talking to someone famaliar with rescues that said this is how they usually deny your application, they just don't respond or let you know anything. Anyone know if there is any truth to that? I have no problem if they wanted to deny me, but I would definitely like to know I have been denied and maybe why so I can try to fix it or if I can even fix the issue.

Most rescues don't call back to tell you they will never place a dog with you. They don't want an argument in case the applicant disagrees. But just so you know their reasoning, I would call them back and ask the reason. If one rescue denies you others might too for the same reason. That way you know what you're up against.

No rescue would talk to me because I don't have a fence and I do anti-body titers on my dogs instead of yearly vaccinations. More and more vets are taking the advice of the vet schools and not doing vaccines every year. Unfortunately, many rescues haven't caught up with the new guidelines
 
Yeah they never got back to me. Never sent me an email. I called and emailed with no response at the time. I ended up dealing with Georgia sheltie rescue and they were great people. I was approved immediately and the ladies running it are fantastic. Unfortunately they didn't have a dog for me at the time. I eventually got Beignet on my own through Craigslist and she is one of the best decisions I have made and my wife who was worried about having a dog wouldn't give her up for all the money in the world.

Based on the condition of our puppy when we got her, a lot of people have told us we pretty much got our rescue puppy.

Missing out on the dog with east tenn rescue was a blessing because we never would of got our wonderful little girl and she wouldn't of gotten us. Hope the one we missed out on got an equally loving home.

We are actually considering trying a foster or adopting one through Georgia to give her a buddy to play with.

What strikes me as odd though is the people who perform the initial home visit for east tenn that was ignored or denied was used by Georgia to approve us. They never did a second home visit. It was another rescue org that did the home visit the first time and they provided the report to both orgs.

Wow, in my opinion it is both odd and disrespectful of the rescues to do that.

I know great people volunteer their time and more for rescues and appreciate that. However, if someone hands in an application and gets a home-visit, the rescues should follow through and take the time to let the person know they are not accepted. They should mention what the person can change in order to adopt a dog or simply explain why they believe a rescue may not be in their best interest. The rescues may be missing out on good homes for dogs who need them and may be missing out on a chance to educate an owner who is not ready for a rescue.

This could further prevent another dog from ending up in rescue if this is really a home not suitable for a dog that ends up getting one anyways from another source, such as a puppy-mill, then needing to re-home him afterwards!

Sorry for this little ''opinion-spur'', I just found it odd.

I'm sorry you had to go through this but am happy it turned out best for you Trip. As they say, everything happens for a reason. Beignet is lucky to have found a great home :yes:. (Love love love the name:smile2:).
