Welcome to 2012! What are your goals?

Just wanted to say a quick good luck to those aiming to qualify for Nationals/Regionals, etc!!!

I really was hoping to get Koji to AKC this year (mostly because it was on the West Coast and driveable for me), but we had some big set backs. Maybe one day we'll get there with awesome contacts. Granted, we'll probably be the slowest of the bunch, but that's okay. Its not a goal of mine, but if I went or even qualified, I'd be ecstatic!!!

Nellie:
-Staying focused and on-course
-Consistant contacts
-At least 1/2 through Level 2.

Me:
-clear handling
-continued upbeat attitude
-not saying 'good girl' every 5 seconds. *facepalm*

I'm so excited for 2012...we're planning on approx one trial a month. Can't wait.

Long shot....CPE Nationals? If they are near us, we are still going to go to watch. :)

Since I don't have him yet, goals are simply to prepare for Pilot as best I can. I also was hoping to get into agility once he's going to be the right age so reading up on that is a must.

There's a lot of agility stuff you can do while they're puppies, so look into "foundation" work. We usually call it "flatwork". Also, obedience is always good to work on. Trust me, us addicted people probably try now to work with them as soon as we get them, lol.

There's lots of threads about what you can do when the dog is a puppy to help them train for agility. Search is your friend. :)

I'm adding another goal. It's not a make it or break it, it's more of a fun goal. I'm going to try and qualify for USDAA's SW Regionals for Performance Speed Jumping. I only need one qualifier and I'll have 2 chances to get it.

I figure since my club is co-hosting the SW Regionals, I'll be working it anyways, so I might as well give it a go and have fun!

Hopefully start training Epic, which I'm really looking forward to as I haven't done any proper agility training before - expect lots of questions!!

Goals

Hopefully running my dog at the LEAP trial in May where Sting made his debut and get back into training by the end of Jan.and especially not be afraid to run for fear of blowing my knee out. That is my worst nightmare.I want to get Sting out of Open and into Excellent and possible pull Shadow out of retiremnt and go for MACH 2.:biggrin2:

My instructor asked us to send her our short and long-term goals at the end of last year.

By the end of the year, I want to:
Finish OA (AKC)
Finish AXJ (AKC)
Finish AD title and start earning legs toward AAD (USDAA)
Earn at least 2 CD legs (AKC Obedience)

By the end of March:
Retrained and reliable seesaw
Consistent contacts (2o2o on everything, and holding position until released)
Rear crosses with extreme pressure
Efficient post turns
Effective timing and placement of rewards
