Wetting the bed at night

This has been going on for about two months now and it isn’t consistent at all. Twice this week and two other times in the past few weeks. She’s on a lot of antibiotics (doxycycline: 3, twice daily) and steroids (prednisone 2 in the morning and 1 at night) to treat the Anaplasmosis. I have high doubts that any UTI would be able to survive such high doses of medication. What pomshe said sounds more likely even at her age. She was spayed last year and we really don’t know her age. Two was an estimate given to us by our vet at the time. I don’t live anywhere near a clinic. My vet is over 100 miles away. But she has another appointment coming up on the 14th. I’ll call in the morning and ask if they think I should bring her in early.
 
The steroids also make them pee a lot. Maybe she just isn’t waking up to go out? Our 1st Sheltie had spay incontinence - she would pee in bed at night. We put her on Proin and that fixed the issue.

I agree, time for a urinalysis. Doing a full blood panel won't tell you if she has a UTI, has to be a urinalysis. Just saw that you have her on steroids...they'll definitely make her pee more but could also case a UTI (my last dog was on steroids and had UTI's all the time). Have you smelt her pee when she wets her bed? Is it really strong? Good luck, hope you can figure out what's going on.
 
Proin - that's what I was trying to think of! Friends of mine have had their dogs on this and all said it worked wonders.

Sometimes it’s a little strong but not overly. And usually I can hardly smell it at all. I was really confused the first couple times and didn’t think it was pee because hubby and I couldn’t smell anything. Her bed is in front of his nightstand and I figured he just knocked over his drink unknowingly (it’s happened before). But the third time she did it she was sleeping in Jody’s bed on my side and I don’t take any drinks to bed. That’s when we figured out for sure it was her.
 
Id definitely get the urinalysis done, she could have something brewing in there and it's not too hard to collect. I used to follow my girl first thing in the morning with a clean aluminum pie plate (bend it a bit first so it fits) and as soon as she squats slip it under her. Ask your vet for a few collection bottles.
I found with my girl that the steroids suppress the immune system allowing the bacteria to grow. She'd get a UTI literally as soon as she finished the antibiotics, but she'd get it bad...her urine reeked!

I think it was Ann who mentioned using a soup ladle to me..... anything has got to be easier than collecting a cat's urine sample, but been there, done that too!
 
just because a dog is on antibiotics doesn't automatically mean they can't get another infection.
Callie was on antibiotics for an ear infection and had started peeing in her sleep. several people on here suggested UTI but I thought she's been on pills so couldn't be that. turned out she did have a UTI- a resistant strain of E coli. The vet actually prescribed a human antibiotic that I had to get filled at my pharmacy. it took several days for the culture to come back so that the correct antibiotic could be given. I'm not sure anymore how long she'd been having issues but it seems the pills were too little too late. she basically ended up with a systemic infection and that's how I lost her. I tell everyone now to culture the urine and get the right pills.
Jocu's urine was cultured and it turned out that the pills that the vet sent home with us were one of the recommended antibiotics for those bacteria. so he's been on the correct pills and is all better now.
 
I urge you to have her urine tested. I had two dogs end up with kidney infections that probably started with a UTI (bladder) And YES a culture is necessary as you need to make sure she's on the right stuff,

Agree 100% about getting the culture! My last dog also had ear infections ALL the time. The vet would give us ear drops and send us home. 6 months later (or sooner) we'd be back with another infection (I didn't know then what I know now). Finally, I got fed up with this vet and switched. This new vet did a culture first thing and prescribed a totally different medication. Of course by this point she was pretty much deaf from all the scar tissue but with proper meds we kept her infection free.
