Well we had a super busy weekend here. It was the Lochland Shetland Sheepdog Club specialty on Fri followed by 2 days of Lake Minnetonka KC show.
I showed Birch in Beginners Novice B and Rally Novice on Fri, Beginners Novice B on Sat and in Coursing Appitude test(CAT) on Sunday. It was his obedience debute. Celtic ran in the CAT on Sat and Sun. In addition, I coodinated the club luncheon and stewarded for obedience in Sunday. Very fun but I am so tired.
Birch was amazing. We earned 1 Rally Novice(RN) leg with a 89(because I can't read and did a sign wrong) and 1st place, 2 Beginner Novice(BN) with scores 198 and 199 out for 200 and 2 1st places and 1 Coursing Ability(CA) leg. The CA run was amazing. The dog is to chase a 3 bag lure around a course for 600 yards Birch was the first dog. He had never seen lure coursing before, never seen a dog run and had no idea what he was doing. They moved the lure 20 feet into position and he saw it and I said ohhh you want to get it and they told me to let him go and he took off like a shot. Fast and flat out the whole time. A dog broke loose from starting area and ran across the field separating the areas just as Birch was coming to the end. People starred yelling loose dog loose dog and as Birch caught the lure at the end and I call him and he ran right to me as the other dog ran out onto the field. So proud of his excellent recall and totally unworried by the other dog.
Celtic did good for his first time running but no Qs. Day 1 he lost the lure half way though the course and came back to me. Day 2, he got distracted with only 125 yards to go and lost the lure and came back. He has to run back 100 yards he could have just ran the other 25 yards to the turn.
puppy brain oh well he had fun.
