What has your sheltie destroyed/chewed so far?

A Basket Handle

Thankfully, chewing is something that Sadie has never done much of. When she was teething she was obviously not feeling well, got very lethargic and she wouldn't eat because her teeth were hurting her. We actually tried HARD to encourage her to chew, I froze cloths that were bathed in chicken broth, bought her many teething bones, toys, a kong, raw hide, imitation pig ears...the list goes on. She just wouldn't chew!

she's gradually started to like raw hide but only recently.

She experimented with chewing the coffee table when she was very young but grew out of it quickly. The worst she did was chew the handle off of a decorative basket. I'd seen her show interest in it so I sprayed it with Bitter Apple...a big mistake, it turned out she liked the taste! The basket probably would have been fine if I hadn't tried to discourage her!

I can't complain, I got off lucky in the chewing department :smile2:

LOL, "someone" chewed holes in one of my tee shirts that I wear when gardening, and "someone" started gnawing on one of my cookbooks that I left on the bedside table! I can safely exclude Sparky from the chewing/gnawing as he does not do that, however, the other two are suspect, LOL!

Sadie recently decided that pulling apart a shoe mat would be a fun thing to do while I was at work. I was not amused as she also chewed on two table legs to get at the mat. Not too much damage done to the table and I couldn't care less about the mat but I hope she doesn't find something else 'fun' to do while I'm at work. I'll have to try and fine something else to keep her busy during the day.

You know, I really haven't seen CeCe chew on too much, A little wallpaper, an occasional shoe (Usually ones I don't like anyway), of course paper towels and Kleenex and maybe a cardboard jewery box or two. Many times she will drag the chewable object out in front of me, just so I know she's found a new chew-thing, and then I can tell her "No" and hand her something better to chew on. Such a thoughtful puppy!

Bailey is our super-chewer. So far he has chewed:
2 holes in the wall
methodically cut off the hat from his person--seriously, it looked like someone took scissors to it and cut the hat in half
shoes, sandals, shoelaces
ripped up some of the loops in our berber rug
any tag he can get into his mouth
mulch
the knobs on our tv cabinet
wine corks
the zippers on their beds
hard cover book corners
boxes
plastic bags
towels
the rubber surface off the bottom of his food dish (he dumped the food out to get to it)

Brandy has only chewed holes in a few of the vertical blinds in the basement

My sheltie when I had her was fairly good. She loved her snacks so god forbid you said snack or spelled it.. apparently that smarty pants knew how to spell.. haha well, she had greenies she loved and that helped out as well. She had her toys that she was allowed to destroy and chew up and we never minded it. Of course we monitored it b/c I didn't want her eating the stuffing inside or the lil eyes. The only thing she did that I found to be a pisser and my husband who was my fiancee at the time hated was she had a thing to steal his wallet. Now, I don't mean steal his wallet every time either. Only when there was money in it. She would check to see if there was money, if it did she took it and hid it under my bed. We have no idea why she did it but I had a thief on my hands. Oh and when she didn't want my hubby to leave the house she would take a sock so he wouldn't leave, she realized after a while that he gave up trying to look for the socks and left.. so one day he went to put his shoe on and apparently she pee'ed in it so he wouldn't go. She got sad b/c he left barefooted lol. :biggrin2:

I cut Max off as soon as I see him going after a table leg. He loves the underwear(which is a common theme with everydog I've ever owned), socks, etc... His favorite is a cardboard box my fiance had left on the floor. It's real slick, so he pushes/chases it on the carpet. If I push/pull the box around, he looks like a greyhound chasing the rabbit.

ROTFLOL!!!!!

Sadie seems to be growing into chewing on things. She seems to get bored when she's at home by herself and had taken to chewing on furnature. she likes the legs of tables and also chewed on the side of a bookshelf. Little bumb, she didn't even chew on the corner, she just picked a spot and started chewing in the middle of the side!

I guess she's going to have to stay crated while we're at work, the Kong and sea of toys we leave with her just doesn't seem to be enough:rolleyes2:

I had a dog many years ago (he was about 5 at the time) when I first moved to charlotte. He decided one night to grab a tube of super glue off the living room table and ate the glue out of it. He woke us up in the middle of the night whimpering. We awoke to a dog who had glued the tube to his foot and glued his mouth shut. An emergency call to the vet led to laughter from him as he said it was a very common thing. Some warm milk later and his jaws was free of the glue.

Oh yeah, the vet told me not to worry, he would only do that once. He wasn't kidding either, that dog ran every time he smelled a tube of super glue around lol.
