What should we do?

Gosh Michele I hope Eanhardt doesn't have any problems after this. I can tell you that Baxter has been on his diet since last July and has never adjusted to having less food. He still looks for more every chance he gets. I did go to a reduced fat dog food (Wellness Core) supplemented with pumpkin or green beans and he does very well with it. I guess he just has the sheltie chow hound gene.
 
Glad you talked to the vet, Michele. That should put your mind at ease. It sounds like Earnhardt will be just fine, but I'd be nervous too. We'll cross our fingers that everything "comes out OK" by tomorrow. Keep us posted!

Well we'll be on a 24 hour watch,till things start moving in the right direction.Honestly looking at him laying here,his big sad golden eyes he looks and acts same ole,same ole Earnie.

All we can do is wait,I guess~

Too bad that chicken breast was cooked.. if it wasn't I would have been able to reassure you more, since I give Toffee raw chicken parts on occasions, which do not spinter like cooked ones do
I am sure he will be ok, tho... and you are not hurting him by taking away 20% of his food... it was just an accident, Michelle!

I'm thinking positive,and hoping he had acouple of good crunches before he swallowed.

Now that i'm sitting here,I'm wondering what Earnhardt was thinking precisely at that moment,when he had that chicken breast in his mouth,and he was busted!

GULP..swallow quick,cause Brian just raised his voice..GULP

I was telling Janet when we spoke earliar,that if I had caught him,all it would have taken was a beller out of me,and Earnhardt I know would have not eaten it.

And if he had it in his mouth,all it would have taken me is to open his mouth,and he would have let go of it. I don't mess in playing games.When I speak,he knows I mean buisness.

But because it was Brian,and him & Earnie have this "bond"..Brian is to soft spoken with him,and he simply does not listen to him.
 
Well, I too hope Earnie is OK. And most likely he will be! I just wanted to say we do feed our dogs Innova (the regular) and they do really well on it. Shiny coats, good stools, bright-eyed. So IMO it's a good quality food. And was NOT on the recall list of dog food with the melamine scare.

Keeping fingers crossed!!

Poor Ernhardt. I know how he feels. When I'm dieting I'd like to steal things from others plates while their eyes are diverted too!
 
Comes in late tonight. Hope Earnhardt is doing well. Like your vet said watch for any blood in stool and get him in if any concerns.

What meds is Earnhardt on? Tully's counter surfing and food seeking has gotten out of control lately. Both she and Deska have been on a diet so I thought it may be that. Turns out the allergy meds she is on is a steroid and the main side effect is hunger! I took her to the vet and she got an allergy shot and is off the meds, and now she isnt so bad. Seems the meds were giving her an extreme hunger and desire to seek out food.

Both mine are on canned diet foods atm - it gives them more quantity and they feel full. In fact they are now getting tinned food instead of kibble for breakfast and they love it and seem much happier. I am giving them less than the recommended amount but they dont care (trying to lose weight quicker because we have a lot of comps coming up). slightly soften stools, but it isnt as bad as I thought it would be.
