When you have a hungry Sheltie you can’t feed….

My vet lets me keep Cerenia in the house for times like that when I need it, if yours will give you a prescription. I get the 60 mg caps and split them in four since it's $10 a pill. As long as you know it's not something more serious, like gallbladder, it's safe to treat them yourself if your vet agrees.
Crazy how expensive Cerenia is! I was talking to my pharmacist and telling him how it would be nice if there was a pharmacist that would carry animal specific meds. A few years ago there was a pharmacist in I think Quebec that did this and there was such a push back from vets because of the profit they didn’t want to lose! My vet will at least give a script for human meds at no charge, some vets will even charge a fee to write that script!

Checkers gets Cerenia every other day! That's why I get the 60s....I get four days' of doses from one pill. I get it from Chewy with a prescription which is at least a bit cheaper than the vet prices but not much!

A little late, I suppose but we’ve been having a similar hiccup with our guy Toby - he’s 3 now.

I took him to the vet last week after his third day vomiting bile. And suggested too much stomach acid and prescribed him otc Omeprazol. But three days later, he’s still vomiting bile between breakfast and dinner (and once even this morning before breakfast)

He’d always have “hungry pukes” as a puppy as we’d call them until we switched him from kibble to freeze dried raw food and oatmeal. But then we got nervous about all the stuff coming out about grain free and “boutique” pet foods that we switched to a regular kibble last year.

I’ll be calling the vet first thing in the morning - and he’ll be getting a mid day snack too now. But I recently stumbled across “Billious Vomiting Syndrome” while trying to research his apparent acid reflux’s for some food to settle his tummy. Anyone heard of it?

I hope your pup got all sorted out <3

Piper is all better now and I hope Toby is feeling better soon as well! Something similar used to happen to Piper as well as what’s happening to Toby, too much acid (this time was different, he’d upset his GI system and couldn’t keep anything down). My vet used to prescribe Pepcid AC as well as something similar to sucralfate to coat the stomach…perhaps Toby needs some of this, ask your vet if that would help and perhaps he could prescribe some for him? Nothing worse than a vomiting dog!
Funny you should mention the raw with oatmeal, that’s what I used to feed Piper when I first started him on raw. Then I decided I didn’t like all the carbs I was feeding him and I cut out the oatmeal. I’d forgotten all about that mix I used to make!

Checkers used to vomit bile regularly, always during the overnight hours too. A breeder friend suggested giving her half a slice of toast before bed every night. My vet recommended half (or 5 mg) of Pepcid at bedtime. I've been doing both for more than a year now and she hasn't thrown up again! Now she hounds me for her toast every night, too. I don't know if this would help Toby, but may be worth a try.
