Which side of the bed?

Angy won't sleep on the bed. He'll get up on the bed and play tug of war and chew his toys for about an hour, but then he prefers to sleep on the floor by my bedroom door. Gee, it kinda makes me feel unloved . . .

Consider yourself lucky! Seriously these puppers are not that big of a dog, but once they are rooted on the bed, they take up over 50% of the real estate and you "argue" all night with them and Ron's snoring.

:mad:I thought I was going to die from lack of sleep at one point with Cleveland. He always took up his half of the bed, Ron took up his half and the BOTH SNORED. I ended up sleeping in the guest bedroom.

(Now I would take those nights back just to have Cleveland.) Then it would be, Cleveland 33% and snoring, McKinley 33% and his noxious gaseous emmissions!!!:dead: and Ron 20% and snoring and me a meager 14%.

Consider yourself lucky for a bed to yourself!

My first sheltie wouldn't sleep on the bed with me. She'd lay there for about 5 minutes and then when I stopped petting her, she'd jump off my bed and lay on a pillow next to my bed. I always wanted her to stay, but she never would :(

I felt that way too with Callie- she'd lay on her bed in the bedroom while I was reading and when I turned off the light- away she'd go- hallway, living room, kitchen. now it's usually just outside the door in the hallway or the bathroom.

I don't let my pups wander at night, even though they are no longer crated. They are shut in the bedroom with me. Too much mischief they could get into with an 18 year old son leaving this stuff all over the place.

just me and the pups- no extracurricular snacking around here

Angy would think he had been ostracized if he wasn't in my room with the door shut at night! He isn't much of a cuddler, but he loves his mommy and feels the need to be close at all times.

Let's see...this is like a campaign. DH is on the left. Annie Laurie climbs up the special stairs he made for her to get onto her cherry hope chest at the foot of the bed. She likes the middle. Layla sleeps either at my feet or by my head, clinging to the edge of the bed like a limpet. Boods likes to be lifted up to curl up next to either of us. Beckon is like a typical little kid: wants lifted up, then runs around annoying everyone. Annie gets ticked off and leaves in a huff, going downstairs to the yellow sofa. One of us feels bad for her and goes down to carry her back up. Then we all settle. Then Boods gets too hot and wants down to sleep with my DS. That aggravates Annie, who jumps down and curls up by the wall. So Brad has to coax her back up and apologize. Then Layla hears an imaginary squirrel and starts growling. Beckon wants down to find the nonexistent squirrel. That suits Annie, who moves up to sprawl sideways between me and DH. Layla falls off. I pick her back up and balance her further from the edge. Beckon barks from the back yard, where he hasn't found the squirrel and is asking for help. Everybody goes except Annie, who wishes she were an only dog. She happily snuggles even more broadly across the bed. DH and I stare at the ceiling, wondering if we'll ever sleep again. :rolleyes2:

Chris! Snort!

That just says it all when to explain about sleeping with dogs, and Shelties in particular!

Especially the non-existent squirrel! I don't know how many times I've been woken up by first Indy and Bacca barking into a corner of the room or at the window. It kinda spooks you out actually!

So remind me....why do we let our dogs sleep in our beds? :confused2:

I tried to let Bailey sleep with me last night, but she didn't want too :( I opened up her crate and told her to jump on me bed. She walked around my room and then went back in her crate and fell asleep.

I did take her out at 7am and she slept with me for a few hours. I'll try again tonight
