Which side of the bed?

I am with Barb, I seriously thought this Sheltie would NOT sleep in bed with me... I held out about 8 months!

I used to have a Boxer AND a German Shepherd sleep in a bed with me and my Husband. Even a King size bed did not help, and hubby had only 6 inches of the bed, lol Plus the Boxer was a sleeping in between my legs kinda dog... lol BUT I found I could NOT resist the Sheltie closeness and hair lol! Plus, he's SO much easier to sleep with than the 'big oafs' I used to have ;)

I never let a dog sleep on the bed until my rescue JRT mix. I had labs before her and they would push me off. I brokedown with Jazz(1yr) after only a month. Then after only 2 weeks I got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and Jazz would not let me back in the bed!:mad: I tipped the mattress up and she slide off the bed and into the kennel she went. She earned her right to be in the bed 4 yrs later and I never had another problem. :smile2:

Since then all dogs earn the right to be on the bed and if there are problems they go back to the kennel. Justice made it by 9 months, Ember took 2 yrs and Diva is on her 2nd try(since 11 months, 1st at 9mon lasted 2 days) so far so good.:smile2:
 
Yeah, I remember when I was single and had four shelties and some cats. I bought a king size bed, so it wouldn't be so crowded. It didn't really work, but I was happy sleeping with my furbabies.

Funny thing, one morning my foster daughter got ready to leave for school and came into my bedroom to give me a kiss good-bye. The littlest sheltie had curled up in a ball and was sleeping on top of my face. She said at first she was afraid the sheltie had smothered me, but then she noticed his fur blowing in and out near my nose, so she figured I was okay. It didn't wake me up!!

To tell you the truth, no man is worth kicking the shelties out on a cold winter night. But when you find a good man, like my husband, I let him have his way. Buddy lays next to me when I watch TV in bed.

I just have to laugh!!! You tipped the matress,well I'm glad that I am not the only one that has done that!
I did it one afternoon,I was not feeling well,and Kasey (lab) was just totally being a twit.She would not move over after I had to get out of bed.so after fair warning,I procedded to go to the other side of the bed,lifted the mattress,and off she went.
She was one to almost be like a bowl of jello when she slept on the bed,when ever I moved,she moved,but only closer to get so close to my back. I could hardly move.
Kinda a funny moment. I still let her sleep on the bed after that,but I sure wondered what she was thinking at the time~
 
Angel starts out at the foot of the bed. Then she waits to hear our breathing slow down. I can feel her slowly make her way to my back, circle then plop back to back we sleep most of the night. She moves back to the foot of the bed if I have a restless night. Sometimes she will sleep on Stan's side but not too often. It gets really cozy on the nights Tiara tries to sleep with us. Collie, two adults and a Sheltie are a little much for the queen size. :rolleyes2:
 
Maggie starts out between us or laying against one of our legs but then moves to the foot of the bed. When it is cold she sleeps as close as she can and she does not move. Some times we are amazed at how much room a 15 pounder can take up, but we would not have it any other way!!

Great advice... no man is worth kicking the Shelties out on a cold winter night!!! teheheheheh until you find the right one... that one MUST be truly special then :)
 
After one year in the crate, McKinley can sleep all night on the bed. For now he is allowed to sleep on the "bottom" :lol: until about 10PM and then into the crate he goes.

Here is my question, how can one little 15lb puppy sprawl himself out to cover 16 square feet of a bed?

It's a rather well known fact that there is a rip in the space/mass continuum.. there is a formular for it.. it's something like

Snort! That sure explains Bacca growing to 6 feet tall in my bed every night!
