Will this pen arrangement delay crate training (potty) for my pup?

Love this arrangement for when you want to go out or can't watch puppy. Much better than sticking it in the crate for hours on end. Don't be surprised if he doesn't figure out he can climb on the crate and escape though. Seen that many many times. BTW, I do this with all the pups I have trained and there have been plenty of them.

One thing I did differently is I purchased a remnant piece of linoleum from our local store and put it over the hard wood. This saved the wood from puppy nails, accidents, and made it really easy to clean.

I did the same thing. I used linoleum under the pen when the whole litter was in it. Now that it's just Ruffles, I use those interlocking plastic mat squares that you get for children's play areas. It's a bit softer and warmer on my tile floor. I put one of the mats I used in the whelping box over that. Works wonderfully!

he's adorable! This was actually our plan with Ruutu when we first got him since we both work 8hrs a day. Sadly, Ruutu is one of those climbing escape shelties. He climbed right out of it at 8 weeks, while we were home luckily. As he got bigger, he jumped it. We eventually just took down the gating (it was 26" baby gate) because he would just hop on over. It didn't even keep him out of the kitchen
