Wishing for an angel....

My heart breaks at your loss but is lifted to hear that you are beginning to be able to start moving forward. I am a very new sheltie owner and have been amazed at the strong impact they have made on my life in such a short period of time and can't imagine the pain of losing them. I lost a nephew, sister and my father to cancer within a 7 month period in 2010 so when Mikos arrived in December he was truly an angel sent to heal. Brie has taken that a step further and I can't believe that merely touching her brings a calmness to me that I have never experienced before. It is my hope that your new love will provide the same peace for you.
I would like to share a quote I found after losing my sister that really appeals to me.
"If I had a flower for every time I think of you I could walk forever in my garden."

I hope that soon the sun will come out in your garden and the flowers flourish.

It's hard to look at the rescue site because of all these wonderful Shelties who need homes, yet, I am so glad that they are all being taken of now and are safe until they find there forever homes.

I personally just melted when I saw Allie's photos. I LOVE that little FACE! It also says she loves to cuddle and is affectionate. I also love Sunnry, too. That's a tough call. Maybe you can meet them both and the answer would become clear.

Another week, and I still cry every day...and every time I read these posts, I am amazed at the love and depth of the responses. I truely am not crying alone, I know.

I am moving soon. I have picked out one of a few dogs on the Austin Sheltie Rescue page. I like Allie, she is the right size, and I have the attention for her. Or Sunny...if you have time, take a look. I want them all.

A Sheltie-Forum angel has extended her help with the deposit, so I should have a new friend next month, I hope. I am excited in looking forward a bit. I will always look back....

I have no wisdom or insight here. Just the fact that it hurts to lose anyone this close to you, dog or human. She was my child, my friend, my life. I am lost without her. But I am moving forward. It's funny when you think of them, the weird places...like at the store yesterday...no treats to buy Anna....it made me sad.

Thank you so very much for putting your hearts and souls here.

Beth

So glad you are able to move forward. The grief will take time - allow yourself the time you need. Shed the tears you need. I found another Sheltie certainly helped me when I lost Noah without any warning whatsoever in November 2009. I got Emma two weeks after losing him. Someone told me the greatest compliment to a Sheltie is to get another one when you lose one. Emma quickly became a well-loved member of our family - she knew my mom was dying the day we lost her, even though none of us did.

Hope to see pictures soon of your new addition.

Congratulations! Moving forward can only be good. So many beautiful pups there for adoption.

Beth:

I'm in Austin, too! Once you get your lovely sheltie we should arrange a play date! I have an almost 3 yr old blue merle and 2 10 month old sheltie mixes!! Would be fun!

I know how you feel.

I had a dog that i loved deeply but then i got my sheltie lassie she is my life and soulit will get better soon all you need to do is try and get to a point that you can get a new dog cause, your Anna would want you to be happy.

I'm so very sorry for your loss - I'm sorry, too, that I'm posting this so late. It hurts so much and I truly understand. Right now - it's hard to just get through the day. We've lost our two beautiful, loving Shelties just 3 months apart. Your sweet baby may be with them across the Rainbow Bridge. Take care - you were a wonderful mom to your baby. Hugs.

I read this thread last night and my heart goes out to you! I am so sorry for your loss; please know that because you loved your Anna so much, that you were thinking only about what was best for her. That is a lot of LOVE!

I have been there myself and it was so very difficult and I still think about my Mollie and second guess myself and miss her terribly! I did not want to let go; but she was suffering. Afterward I cried all the time yet found such comfort in the fur babies that were still with me. Since then, I lost Sadie (a big dog knocked down a wooden slat in their fence and hurt her beyond survival) and then last October I lost Abbie (she past in her sleep, heart condition) just 4 days before my Mother past. The pain was nearly unbearable and still hurts. My grandson (4 yrs old) still asks me about Abbie and where she is. Hurts. And the pain of losing my Mother.

After Sadie past, Emma came into my life. After Abbie past, my sweet rescue Noelle came into my life. They can never replace those I loved and lost; but they give their love so freely and I am thankful for that.

I hope you will be getting another love in your life when you are ready; you will not regret it. God Bless!
