Yeast infection

I spoke to soon this morning max threw up, i think i mixed his food with too many ingredients. Going forward i want to go back to kibble and stop with experimenting with him and food. Now does anyone know a kibble low in fat and grain free. Help

Sorry Max still isn't feeling well. You might want to send a private message to BarbV, I think she has her two on a lower fat/protein grain free food.

Might be Go! Naturals but not sure.

Fromm Dog Food (Kibble) Surf and Turf and Beef Frittata Veg are grain free and low fat. (I believe they have 2 more new varieties).

Hope Max is feeling better. I am praying for him.

Please update us on how he is doing, when you can.

Max

Thank you everyone for all your help and encouragement. Good news Max is doing better he's been on the supplements only two weeks and has more energy, doesn't smell. Only problem he is giving me a hard time with meals, he doesn't like the grain free food, fish. Sooooooo as much as i hate to change food again i am going back to cooking beef or chicken with veggies.
He is still biting his feet, shaking his head especially when going outside and gaging or couphing. I remember reading about this combination but can't find it. Soon we'll get bloodwork done and pray his pancreas numbers are lower. :)

Diet

We follow a diet that was recommended by Dr. Dodds for my sick doggie with liver issues.

She told me that my healthy dog could stay on this diet for furever also.

Sweet potatos, vegetables (squash, zuchinni, carrots) chicken, white fish, or pork, no fat.

I feed my sixteen pound girl this meal twice daily. Amounts at each mealtime are 2/3 potato and vegetable mixture and 1/4 meat. She also gets an Omega EFA capsule once a day for her skin issues.

Hope this helps, there are many good diets to choose from on this site. Harper does well on this one. You can look up Dr. Dodds liver cleanse diet on the web. She uses white potatos also, but we have discontinued the whites.

My rescued mutt has had a lifelong yeast infection every since he was 1.5 years old - now he's 4. It just comes and goes. He loses lots of hair and gets very itchy...this lasts for a few months and once the hair grows back, he starts again. It is very frustrating.
Recently, we met a woman who has had lots of experience with dogs with yeast infections. She feeds them BARF (raw diet) and the dogs have done so well on it. It may take few months, but the results are great. There's no doubt about that. Now my boy is on Raw and he is improving.
You may also want to try Norclear shampoo. It is medicated.

if not, grain free foods with fish might help - natural balance has very good grain free fish foods with much lower protein levels than TOTW and Acana.

raw food is definitely the way to go, followed by grain free when treating a dog with yeast overgrowth. The yeast fungus actually feeds on carbohydrates derived from grains as well as potatoes (excluding sweet potatoes).

If he's not already on one a good priobiotic will also help.

Yeast

Okay i'm a woos, just can't do the raw food diet, besides that my husband would commit me, he has doubs about all the supplements I give him. I did try natural balance fish and he gave me such a hard time, i finally went back to cooking. I have to keep it low fat because of his pancreas so Kate thanks for the portion size ) everyone has different, but yours sound more realistic. I am over feeding him since i feed him three times daily, but i am giving him, sweet potato, veggies and meat or chicken. He yelps when he scratches behind his ears and yet we can't find anything. Imhave seen teeny tiny flcks of white! I didn't want to take him to dr before the blood test so we could try and catch up financially, but maybe i need too. Its just everything I do is over $400 and hubby just went back to work! But this is my baby. I wish i could put a picture up of him he is so sweet.

Lynnel how is Max doing? How is his diet.

You know Shoprite has sweet potatos on sale a lot. Last week they were just 67 cents a pound. I like to buy spaghetti squash when it is on sale, it is really cost effective. All you do is boil it til soft and then scrape out the insides, and they look like spaghetti.

I cook in bulk for a couple weeks when I find a sale.

About 10 sweets, two bags of frozen squash (yellow or green) or 1 whole spaghettie squash and one bag squash. I boil and then peel the potatos, smash up the squash into it all and measure out three days worth for two meals a day and freeze the portions.

I cook the chicken and or fish separately and do the same, toss it into the freezer. I like to make super sure that the meat is fresh so I freeze separately and take out when I need to add it to the potato and squash

I hope this helps Lynnel and let us know how sweet Max is doing.
