You will probably think I'm a bad mom, but...

You are not a bad mom although I know that one time or another every one of us has felt like we could do better for our pups. I know it's already been mentioned but I get Spencer's Wellness Core at the local Food & Grain and they also cary EVO, TOTW, etc. And their prices are very competitive. In fact, with the cat food, it's buy six bags, get the seventh free. I like that a lot!! Wish they'd do that with the dog food too.

Fluffy gets fed the puppy Eukanuba. Smudge is on rx food for sensitive stomachs. Fluffy has been on Eukanuba since she came home. I still have a bag and a half. When she's done with her puppy food I don't know what I will put her on. Probably Blue Buffalo. I've heard a lot dogs (from the PetSmart webpage where you can read reviews) won't eat the life bits in Blue Buffalo.

If it makes you feel any better I travel over an hour for ANY dog food. Good or bad.

Pierre would not eat the life bits in Blue Buffalo, which is why I originally switched to Taste of the Wild. TOTW is actually carried at many Ace Hardware stores around me, though I go with a mom and pop pet supply store to keep things local.

I have gotten Wellness at Feed stores- a lot of local small-town feedstores will get you whatever you want. My basset/cocker mix ate Purina One for many years- I think he started on it soon after it came out. I traveled a lot for work and wanted the petsitters to be able to pick up his food at the grocery store. I think it's still the best available in grocery stores. That was also before I knew about any of the premium pet foods in pet stores. Danny was almost 13 when I lost him to cancer.

I was actually feeding TOTW for a while. I'll never use it again though. Since we don't know why Smudge was sick he's going to stay on his rx food. Fluffy never would touch it from day one. Fluffy eats everything, and I do mean everything. If she wouldn't eat it then something ain't right. This dog will sample ANYTHING. So I had to go back to the Eukanuba. I'm going to try Blue Buffalo after we've went through the other Eukanuba bag. If she won't eat Blue Buffalo I'll do some more looking and see what else we have here. There's a locally owned pet store here, but I refuse to set foot in it. I'll give you one guess why.

We do have a Tractor Supply Store here, but it is so NASTY. It's in an old K-Mart building, and it looks like nobody has cleaned anything since the 1950s. I know a lot of people like it (and I used to buy the TOTW from there), but the one here is just so gross.

I have a friend who has a scottie and a welsh/scottie mix and they LOVE Blue Buffalo. I got her to switch from Pedigree because she said they stunk. She has noticed improvement in coat, smell, temperament, teeth, and stool. I don't think it is a bad food, Pierre just didn't like parts of it. As for TOTW, I wouldn't feed it if my dogs didn't eat it like it was going out of style. Also, the price we are getting is VERY good for the quality.

My one guess? Um... puppy mill puppies are sold there? I'm lucky that the one I go to only sells guinea pigs, fish, and rodents fo snakes to eat. They even have a sign that encourages people to NOT buy puppies from stores.

There should be another tractor supply store... or at least something. Like I said, Ace Hardware carries some quality dog foods. Make a couple of calls and you might be surprised. I also second the idea of dog food bins with the bag inside.

I have Life Abundance food delivered, it is from Dr Jane Bicks products and I have it on autopilot for every 6 weeks, works like a charm and it is not being stored in any stinky warehouses for who knows how long. Autopilot works great I just email them if I make any changes to it otherwise they send me my previous order size. Che likes his food and Sammy on it too, although Che is only using it for treats as I feed him raw/ homemade mostly.
