zak has a new toy -- a hamster ball

Zak has been going at his pepsi bottles this week and chews them to much and I know he loves to play with them because of the noise. I got him a small hamster ball and put shells and a penny in it. He is having such fun rolling it around. He opened it up once, I did not have it turned far enough. I want to find a dog toy like that but not neccessarily a treat ball.

Randi that would be a great idea but he would most likely chew on a part of it and eat it! I have not tried a soft toy in a while for that reason he chews and eats them. I have never had such a chewer. I may have to go check those out.

Ok, my first thought was.........this may be fun for the pup, but the hamster is NOT GOING TO FIND this amusing!

Cute idea though, but no real suggestions

I am so cheap, I should be ashamed

We call this frugal, recycling and saving the planet. I think you are to be admired.

The water bottle crunchers aren't exactly "Soft Toys" they are made out of a pretty durable fabric, much like some of the Tuffy type of chew toys. The only part that's "stuffed" is the head and there is a little bit of stuffing from what I can tell in the tail (minimal). The rest of the body is created by the water bottle that is inserted into the toy.

Essentially it's a "Tuffy" water bottle cover.

As for other toy suggestions...hrmm.... The holly roller is a pretty good toy but you need some accessories to stick in side of it like a cat bell ball.

Do you have a Kong Wubba yet? This is Vash's latest toy and he LOVES IT. I got him the rabbit one. Essentially you've got a "squeaky kong" inside the upper part of the body, and the rest of the body is kind of plush yet it's durable enough to tug with or chew on.

Might want a different size than large though :)

Theres also this toy http://www.bestfriendsgeneralstore....CS/Loopies_dog_toy/Lobster+Loopies+Sound+Toy/ it's another plush squeaky toy but with a twist it's got a voice chip in it that's activated when the toy is dropped. Should keep any pup entertained for a while.

The babble ball is always an option as well.

and there is also something called Multipet Petigues Camouflage Canvas Toys. They have sound chips in them as well.

I think I had one of the Tuffy ones before looked like a bone shape and he chewed through in an hour or less. I tell ya this boy can chew. I love the putting a ball in the holy roller -super idea. I will check out the other suggestions too.

Hrmm that's a bit rough.

If Vash started doing that I'd probably go with the holly roller myself. I might canabalize some other sound chip toys and figure out a way to squeeze them inside the roller some how though just to make it more entertaining for the pup.

Right now I've got a cat bell ball in Vash's holly roller. He doesn't usually spend much time messing with it unless I start bouncing it like a basket ball or kicking it around. And at that point it becomes the best toy ever and he wants it.
