  • I was amazed at how fast Jax changed his tune. I think one reason we were so successful is because it's the long weekend and I'm home to reinforce the lesson. Sheila said I could also "hang" him. This is when you lift the dog up by the skin/fir of the ruff with both hands and scold him looking OVER his head. Avoiding eye contact is crucial Then you drop him and ignore him for 10 minutes. After the 10 minutes, yoou call him over and explain in a calm voice that he has to be a good boy and love him -- but not profusely. Normally I would never do this with a Sheltie, but Sheila is an obedience trainer who owns 8 Shelties and grows out pups for others. She also used to run a Sheltie rescue. She really knows her stuff!
Ann, I have a question. Where would I post a message about finding a Sheltie in the Miami area? Afriend of my son found a small female sable two days ago. They were about to leave her on the street. I talked them into let me have her. She does have a microchip, but the only info at Home Again is about the company that implanted it and its in Missouri. I know this little guy didn't travel that far. She is well behaved and you can tell she is someone's companion. She's been well cared for. I am going to hang onto her until we've exhausted all efforts to find her family. Any advice would be most welcome.
Ann, Thanks for posting the photos of Ivy, Pixie, and Barkley ! Oh and of course the horses. The 2 horses are beautiful as well I especially like the lighter colored one.

Not a problem Ann. I'm glad it worked. I wouldn't have thought of it had my vet office not recommended doing it. I will keep all fingers and paws crossed that the tests come back good. Have a good afternoon!
Ann, I love the album you put together including the horses. Awesome!! Of course your have three cuties, Ivy the tri colored, Then Pixie and Barkley. I love the one of them waiting for presents under the tree. :biggrin2: The Horses too. Midnight and Topaz. My vote for the best photo, Pixie and Barkley looking sideways waiting for Santa What a GREAT PHOTO!!!! You should enter that somewhere.
Well what a little stinker! Zoe was recently put on the Glucosmine (sp?) pills because she is limping on her right front leg from time to time. Usually after she is running and playing too much. Do you think I can kee that little buger from jumping off of the couch, nooooo. Well I hope that you are able to keep him off of it to help it heal. Hope you are having a great week!
