10.18.09 Open Session: Dinner and Drinks

I made it thru another yucky anniversary.

3 years ago this weekend (17Oct) I was assaulted on my way home from work. I still only work part time as I still suffer from migraines and vertigo from the head injuries and post traumatic stress. I have a yucky rehab meeting with my boss shortly - I hate these meetings, they remind me of things I would rather forget.

2 positive things came out of the trauma - Deska and Tully. When my life was turned upside down I found I had a gap in my life that only a small ball of fuzz could fill - or as it turned out 2 balls of fuzz. My pups have given me sanity and freedom and love just when I needed it.

I am quietly mingling because I am not as outgoing, but my first love is HOME. Home and hearth, books and poetry, music and good friends. My past is in Inventory Control for a Natural Stone Importer. I am a Buck-eye from the great state of Ohio.

For is foreigners - whats a buck-eye?

I have to pass on the fish/shellfish as well (allergies). I brought some Pennsylvania Dutch Chicken Pot Pie and chips with Salsa and Guacamole to add to the dinner buffet. I don't have any objections to steak, baked potato, and apples though.

I'm 49, married to a musician-computer tech Alan who is 11 years and 11 days my senior. Its a second marriage for both of us. Russell, 20, is the child of my first marriage. He's currently enrolled at South College in Physical Therapy...following in my footsteps. I'm an overachiever; busy with gardening, crafts, sewing, working two jobs, singing, and....shelties.

Congratultions Ashley!

I love seafood..so I do think I'll be eating my weight in crab cakes! So it's Michele here...I was born in Jersey, but somehow made my way to upstate NY to the Thousand Island region, where I lived for many years. I am a self taught artist, have painted since 1989. And recently in the last 6 years have discovered the gourd. But certainly not the highlight of my last 6 years,as I came full circle and found Brian again after 30 years.

We love our babes unconditionally, and maybe one day soon I'll be a grandmom. As my son & wife today announced they are trying to adopt!

A buckeye is actually a nut that's found on a tree. It's the state tree of Ohio. It's also the mascot of the Ohio State University, and has become the nickname for Ohioans.

(Can you tell that I am a Buckeye fan and have family from Columbus?)

Ron, the wine is superb, and the littleneck clams are beyond compare!!

I'm happy to finally be in my no kidding for real last house...I think. I was born a railroad brat in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1953 (yeah, you can figure out my age, but you have to do math to earn it :wink2:). I moved all over Indiana and Ohio until I graduated from college (BS and MA) and moved with DH to Arizona. Then we joined the Air Force and skittered all over the globe! Korea, Guam, Hawaii, not to mention the temporary duty assignments in loads more places. I spent my last three years active duty teaching at the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, a senior professional military college. I retired in 2007 and took a civilian position at the same place doing the same thing.

Once we finally were settled at Nattering Springs (me, DH and DS), we started adding Shelties. 28 years without dogs was finally ended!!!

I was born here in Florida. I live happily with my husband of 23 years with our sweet Maggie she is our 2nd Sheltie and our 3rd Katie- we lost to cancer in April. I am on the search for a new one.
I am a like Jan a homebody, I do work part time at house cleaning that alllows me time doing what I love to do garden and be with the dogs.
I love wine... red or white! Pass those crab cakes!!!

A Buck-eye is a type of "nut" that grows on a tree and Ohio is the Buck Eye State and people from there are often called Buck-eyes, similiar to Ron being called a Yankee because he is from Connecticut.

(Weird American thing!)
