12 yr. Old sable dumped by owner pound WV

So glad to hear that Dottie is being rescued. Wonder what will happen to her house mate?
As much as I hate to see an old dog sent to the pound I realize that there are extenuating circumstances that happen and it is sometimes the only thing an owner can do. Not everyone knows about rescues and rescues only tend to take the breed they support. Currently there is a sheltie here in Southern Ontario that is looking to rehome but it comes with a JR cross and the owner doesn't want them separated. Thankfully an all breed rescue is taking them both but what would have happened if the all breed couldn't take them?

She's at Almost Home Sheltie and Collie Rescue -- now with her foster family. Debbie said she couldn't get her until Saturday, and they got her today!!! They think she may be only 8! Look at this girl now, all cleaned up:

I don't think Almost Home rescue is breed specific. I haven't forgotten about Davy, the mountain cur mix and am trying to find a large dog rescue that will take him. Kind of sad one got left behind. Waiting to see Dottie's makeover!

I think that's wonderful of you to work for Davy. Almost Home "specializes" in Sheltie and Collie, but you're right -- they take some others, too.

I am constantly amazed at "Danny's Mommy" and her dedication to helping the lost souls out there. Thank you for not forgetting about Davy.
The little old (90+ years old) lady that used to live across the street from me had an old and incontinent Shih Tzu. When Mrs. Kenny fell and broke her hip her daughter said she could come and live with her BUT she was to euthanize her little dog. That old lady said no way and moved into one of rental houses that she owned. She had the money to get someone in to help her stay at home. If she hadn't, her choice would have been to kill her dog and move in with her daughter or kill her dog and move into a nursing home or take it to the humane society in hopes that someone would take it in. I know that so many don't even try to rehome their dogs. I know that many people will bring them into the clinic to be put down because they don't want to be bothered. Unfortunately there are lots of people that have lost their jobs and are now struggling to feed their families which means the dog has to go. For those that just elect not to live up to the responsibility they took on when the dog was a cute puppy I have to believe that they will face a higher power to answer for their cruelty. In the meantime, people that run rescues, search ads to find the lost dogs of this society, and give of their time and money please know that you are an inspiration to me and I feel sure has put a smile of the face of God.

I couldn't have said it better myself! You guys are such an inspiration to me. I hope to foster dogs in the near future. I'm just waiting for my husband to come around to the idea.:o
