I'll have to remember this thread for 2013....when Nationals is here in CA. I wanna go just to see all the purdy Shelties!!!

Okay okay. I'd like to get into the 2013 Nationals for Agility, because it'll be super close (Pomona). By that time, wow, Miko will be 15, I doubt he'll want to do Rally. LOL.
And THEN I want to look at all the purdy Shelties. I am so excited for Nov 13. lol
I will 100% not be going to the one in 2013.
I've still got about a month and a half before I can even request off for this year's nationals so I still don't know if I will be able to go or not.

Hey you can fly out and visit us in California! I ended up flying to CO and GA for the 08/09 shows
but it was nice this year since AZ was only a 6hr drive.OMGosh I do hate that about getting time off though. They just put out our vacation list for 2011 a few days ago and people get to sign up by seniority. I'm #4 or 5 on the list and I check it daily to make sure April is still clear for Nationals! I have dropped some hints that I realllllly need it off :sadsmile: and so far it's clear...hahaha I have no shame
I finally have a futurity puppy and really don't want to have to send him with someone else for the trip. Worst case I could fly in and out and have him hitch a ride w/someone else going but I'm hoping to get a 3 week block to give me time to drive.I have seniority over a lot of people, but it doesn't amount to squat.
Sadly when you have been there for so long their mentality changes to "she knows more so she can cover more areas so OTHER people can go on vacation!". Sad but true. There's not a lot of areas at work I can't cover, and don't they know it!I just want a week. Give me my week. :sadsmile:

I do have an advantage that even though I'm 4th down on seniority I have about 10 below me but we all do the exact same job so it's just about the time off and if we have enough people to cover shifts. Personal opinions and who can do what don't play any part of it. With all the budget problems they've reduced our time off to reduce OT so getting the vacation sign up block you want is the only way to 'guarantee' the time off. I could put in a request for it later but that could be denied depending on our staffing at the time

Oh gawd. I hate those types of jobs when you have to wait until X time to request time off. Good luck, may they say YES!
