2nd Sheltie!

Some of my friends think I'm a crazy sheltie lady but they seriously don't understand how beautiful shelties are <3 Plus they're not dogs, they're my babies!
Pity that poo eating is quite common.... I was starting to wonder if she was stressed or something and that was causing her to eat it but she is really happy so I guess she just enjoys it BLEGH!!!
Her howl/bark is at the slightest of sounds (or sometimes nothing at all I swear!). Her tail goes straight up and if I rouse on her she wags it!
What differences have you noticed between male and female shelties? Charlie is so soft and kind hearted. He doesn't have a dominant bone in his body (he even lets Lucy eat his food!!). I'm just noticing that Lucy is a little bit more of a brat (and I feel so bad saying that about my fur baby). Is this common in girls??

Every dog has his/her own very individual personality and you really can't "lump" behaviors as either male or female, however my own experience has been that the males tend to be more easy going than females. All the females I have had have been little control freaks that like to manage everything and make sure the others are behaving. They definitely take life more seriously. But, they also are the ones that notice every little mood change in their humans and if I am not feeling well or am sad it is my females who stick to me like glue and won't leave my side for anything...even food! Most of my guys, on the other hand, will check on me and then head off to find something more interesting to do. They are very loving, but show it differently.

ps Our Mally was a poo-poo eater. At age one he just up and stopped. I just had to be really quick and have that bag ready each time!

They are both gorgeous! I've a 6 year old and a 16 week old. They are still trying to figure each other out. Indy is jealous of the attention the baby gets and often shuns him, then odd moments, he decides to play.
The poo eating....hmmm...normally they eat the other digs poo, not their own. Indy was terrific at poop cleaning after Bacca.....made my clean up half the time.
Their is a product called Nasty Habits that is quite effective. You normally give it to the dog whose poo is being eaten, but since it's his own makes it simple!

LOL.... Yes females can be a bit, let's say bitchy. My Maggie ( bless her heart ) was the alpha always, more than my other two females. Zak my first male is just a love, easy going, and a bit of a push over. He is a momma's boy.
Zoey our new girl, so far not sure is she will be an alpha or not. Zak does not correct her at all.

Our third Sheltie
Nearly 12 years ago we were blessed with our 1st Sheltie "Callie". She was born with kidneys 1/3 their normal mass. The breeder gave us another pup, "Reagan" due to the compromised health of Callie. We were told she would be lucky to make it to her 8th birthday. She nearly made it to her 12th. Sadly she passed away in Sept. 2014 leaving a big whole in our hearts and in her brothers heart as well. Around 6-7 weeks later I happened on a breeders site and saw they had a female ready for apotion, a bi-blue and I was in love. I surprised my husband and son with our newest member. She has won us all over and is helping us heal our greaving hearts. We named her Piper, she will be 5 mo on Christmas.

Hi Amy and welcome to SN. My deepest condolences on the passing of your sweet Callie...she obviously had a wonderful life to have lived that much longer than anyone expected. Cherish the memories.
And, a big congratulations on your new little lass, Piper. Yes, she will help your hearts to heal even though she will never "replace" Callie...she will carve out her own special place in your lives.

its a rollercoaster
your furbabies are precious...Lucy has gorgeous eyes. I have never had two at once and NOTHING has prepared me for this. Some days I question my sanity at having two puppies. They get along really well. But Savannah has just been more WORK than Kaleigh ever was. She is clever and tries all kinds of stuff that wears me out some days. She is highly independent and has quite the lil attitude. Definitely diva material. Kaleigh is eager to please, Savannah is my loner, do it MY way, how dare you try and thwart me pup. Both her parents are mellow, but she is an emerging live wire.
Kaleigh is not a pooh eater, but Savannah will try and get to Kaleigh's-ugh!. Neither of my previous one's did that. It is GROSS! I am wondering if it is a big litter thing...more opportunity coming from a bigger litter? Kaleigh was a one pup litter so no opportunity to sample. But Savannah was one of 6, my guess is someone always was contributing, so to speak. Kaleigh is meticulous at cleaning herself, Savannah could careless about such things. (never had a sheltie like that, sigh) Savannah is a magnet and attracted to all things smelly and stinky, wish I could curb that behavior.
