3yr. old in HIGH KILL SHELTER IN CA.

Yay!!! That is such good news! Thank you for your concerted effort to make sure this boy is taken care of. You were his guardian angel!

Dawn,

This thread brings me to tears. I so want that boy to find a good home! I looked up his pic at the shelter, and he is very handsome. There is a longing to give him a good home myself, but it's not an option.

Thank you so much for looking after him. I hope the rescue people have him as soon as possible. He deserves better than he has gotten so far.

Dawn thanks so much for keeping us up to date. I am so glad you went to see him. I knew one of our members would help when I posted this here. We really do have a great bunch.

Mally's Mom unfortunately this Shelter has a VERY! high kill rate and they apparently don't care if it is a poodle, sheltie or pitbull. They act quickly.

I just read some very disturbing articles about animal cruelty at this dog pound. I wouldn't rest until the sheltie is in rescue. I feel so bad for any dog there.

Oh, gosh, I looked at him again. I cannot believe all the dogs in there, and how they look so scared. I hate that this is not a "good" shelter.

I cannot watch "Animal Cops" either. I have a pit in my stomach.

I just don't understand people who treat animals as disposable, or as livestock.

I am praying with all my heart that this sheltie is rescued before any damage is done to him.

Am I wrong, but if several people called, interested in him, would that help the situation? Is there anything we can do???????

I have faith in the rescue group. They have experience in dealing with this facility. The first day I called the shelter the girl who answered the phone said they have a sheltie rescue group they work with who can get the dogs they want out for free. I'm sure Southland Sheltie rescue is the one.

I wish our guy could get out sooner, but I think he'll make it without any extreme effects. He was very hunkered down. He was happy to be petted and talked to. While I was there the two little dogs he was with got into a fight. He just stood back and barked. He did not join in.

I still plan to follow up with the rescue and the shelter.

If you really want to help & you can, I know every rescue group always needs monitary donations to help rescue more dogs and take care of the ones they rescue. Southland Sheltie Rescue has a website where you can donate using a debit or credit card.

Oh this is good news. He is really a great looking dog, and since Dawn made the incredible effort to go meet him (THANK YOU!!!) it sounds like he is really a sweetie. Thank God the Sheltie Rescue folks are on it.

Will you still check on him on Tuesday, just in case?

the southland sheltie rescue facebook site just says they are working on it....
any news?

The shelter was closed yesterday and today. He can't be adopted until Wed. I'm going to call again tomorrow afternoon to see if he is still there. Then contact the rescue to make sure they'll pick him up Wed. at opening time.
