Just so you know, show dogs are never taught to "sit." The reason is that we don't want them sitting in the show ring. My companion dogs have all been taught to sit for treats, but you don't want a show dog to do that in the conformation ring. So Brooke may know lots of other commands, but just not "sit." You can teach her now though...she'll probably learn it quickly!

Not to derail the thread but I never understood not teaching them to sit. Why not just teach them to stand? Justice was taught to sit and stand/stay and he not once sat in the breed ring. Oh well I guess it is just the obedience trainer in me.

Which is easier? Teaching two commands, or teaching none? :wink2: I actually don't know if that's the reason.. just joking.

I am not allowed to teach Koko to sit as long as the breeder may be showing him, which is kind of a bummer. But he stands real pretty LOL

I think it must be a bi-black thing too. Missy is also a sloppy drinker.. And she always wipes it on you when she's done.
